    Default Updating XC with the newest XGM units

    Hello all,

    I was wondering if someone could post instructions on how to change the unit selection in XC to the newest XGM unit selection. *Meaning, the units themselves, build times, cost, stats.

    The problem I have is:

    1. XGM is AWESOME as far as your units that are available to train and such, but the opponents are lacking. You can train royal spartans*30 turns* you can train the phalanx units where is XC you cannot.

    2. XC is AWESOME except it does not have the same unit selection as XGM. The opponents on the campain map are WAY better. i.e. rebels at sea, traits are better then XGM.

    also, i was wondering. I always check landbridges, but I never see them on the map... Bugged? or am I not doing something?

    correction: in 1. you can train the phalanx units with the long spears(sassra?) something like that.

    Hello, donnybrasco24,
    Welcome to the forum. Thanks for the praise.
    Now to your questions:
    I'm not sure exactly what units you are referring to. But the Spartan Royal Guard can be trained in Sparta with a level four barracks along with the Periokioi Hoplites (before the Marian reforms) and Periokioi Phalangites (after the reforms).
    In general, Extended Cultures offers the same basic selection of unit types. We have replaced certain units with others we feel more accurately represent the historical militaries, or else replaced the skins.

    Anyway, as for adding units, if you look around here, I'm sure you can find well written tutorials explaining just how to do that. This guide, by a well known and respected modder, should have most of your answers, better explained than any of us could likely do.

    Expand your borders, a mod based on XGM 5.

    Yes i was refering to the Phalangites, and the armored Phalangites with the very long spears.
    So the Periokioi Phalangites AND spartan royal guard are available after the reforms? does that include the athenian units as well? or were they taken out?

    In that case i will leave as is but the information on those links are awesome. thank you.

    Yes XC is AWESOME! you can definitely see the positive difference in the campain, within like 10 - 20 turns of starting.

    - All GCS Phalangites are available post reform.
    - Athenian hoplites and similar citizen units are available from City barracks IIRC
    - The SRG is available at lvl4 Barracks in Sparta and it takes 3 turns instead of 30.

    Pre-reform you still have hoplites, heavy hoplites and iphicrateans that can work as different kind of phalanx (hoplites in BI only).
