    I just saw this on the news. This guy is a fool and people in his district should be shot for electing him. I still don't know what the god damned imperative rush is for this stupid ass bill.
    Sure I've been called a xenophobe, but the truth is Im not. I honestly feel that America is the best country and all other countries aren't as good. That used to be called patriotism.

    The health care bill just makes the US taxpayer pay for a corrupt morally bankrupt system. What they need to do is reform the system, not just send the taxpayer a fresh bill to maintain the current corruption.

    They need to take on the insurance companies, lawyers, the doctors, the drug companies and the hospitals. As they will never do that, or even attempt to do that, the same corrupt system will just be extended in its coverage, with a whopping great bill being sent to the taxpayer.

    You forgot the lawyers, just like the democrats, when they cash the contribution checks.

    Edit: Damn you DID have the lawyers, my brain just must block out the taint.

    Sadly, one of the more meaningful amendments to the bill, which would have set limits on collections of this sort -- one-third at $150k or less, one-fourth on above -- was defeated.

    Love how the Dems can, and do, routinely call anyone who doesn't go along with whatever they decide we want racists/nazis/skinheads and no one says a damn word about it.

    Hell, they actually put to vote a measure to "condemn" the last Republican that called Obama a liar. But apparently saying things like "Republicans want you to die", "Conservatives and returning Iraq vets are potential extremists", "Conservatives are nazis" or the Speaker of the House blatantly lying about protesters wearing kkk outfits is cool.

    That is a stupid way of proving a point. It is better to just say that Republicans are heartless and call them out on always opposing necessary reform and changes (League of Nations, New Deal, Civil Rights, Medicare, Medicaid, ect.) Whitehouse is making a good point in a bad way.

    But he isnt talking about politicans he is talking about the general opposition to health care and the fact remains the majority of peopel opposes this bill does that makes them ALL republicans or ALL heartless? Most people want reform, most people dont want this because it isnt reform, its a bandaid on a wound that requires stitches, at a premium price as well. Btw civils right thing? Was opposed by more democrats % wise then republicans, always funny how people seem to forget history.

    The original House version:[9]

    * Democratic Party: 152-96 (61%-39%)
    * Republican Party: 138-34 (80%-20%)

    Cloture in the Senate:[10]

    * Democratic Party: 44-23 (66%-34%)
    * Republican Party: 27-6 (82%-18%)

    The Senate version:[9]

    * Democratic Party: 46-21 (69%-31%)
    * Republican Party: 27-6 (82%-18%)

    The Senate version, voted on by the House:[9]

    * Democratic Party: 153-91 (63%-37%)
    * Republican Party: 136-35 (80%-20%)

    And given where we are today on medicad and medicare that we are having this health care reform talk now Id say opposition then was warranted was it not? This is what happens when you try a nonsense bandaid approach to solve a problem and pat yourself on the back for a job well done...it blows up and proves to pretty much be a failure.

    Actually, I did not know that about the civil rights votes. However, by the 1970's the Republicans had pretty much become the party of White people, especially after Nixon's borderline racist "Southern Strategy."

    Anyway, he is trying to say that Republicans need to be more open to reform because they usually are not. No matter what any Republican politician says, this is reform. I would be very surprised if educated Republican politicians truly think this is no reform. If they really thought it was bad, they would have more than two or three reasons why they are voting against health care bill that is over 1,000 pages! If they find only two or three things wrong in such a large bill, they should definitely vote for it. While the cost is large, it pales in comparison to the cost of things that Republicans supported such as the Iraq War. In addition, at least the Democrats know how they will pay for the bill. It is funny to see one Republican senator complain about how much the deficit will grow and then see another say how the deficit will not grow because of bad new taxes and cuts in medicare. Do any Republicans really not notice that their party's main talking points are new taxes, medicare cuts, and a growing deficit? If they claim Democrats are not increasing the deficit because of new taxes and medicare cuts, how come they also claimthe deficit will skyrocket? Clearly, Republicans know how to appeal to the stupid masses better than the Democrats.

    Republicans are heartless, especially the politicians because they know this reform is good but they oppose it simply to hurt the Democrats (why else would their talking points contradict each other?). Their supporters may not be heartless but they are ignorant and too old to have had good educations. Yet, they are active which offsets the Democrats who have hearts and educations but are too lazy to do anything.

    ^ It's that precise attitude why democrats and this bill are doing so poorly in the polls.

    Who elected this raving piece of ? The insurance lobbyists wrote the bill that he's too embarrassed to let us see. If you think that you can put me in prison for not buying health insurance, maybe you haven't heard of Taxation without representation.

    You forgot a few groups though sheldon, Anti-semites, racists, the Far Left, tin foil hat wearers, Kucinich (an 'actual' socialist), 40 other Senators (they all MUST hate Black people), Holocaust deniers, 'loonatics' who think (know) 'GlobalWarming' is a scam, 'nutjobs' that think (know) 9/11 is fraud, Libertarians, defenders of the Constitution, the human race, ect.

    Oh just stop it. This carries just as much weight as Republican accusations of being "unpatriotic" from a few years ago. You're doing the same exact thing they did.

    Really? I think a lot of people would consider the Republican party's leadership to be heartless considering that it promotes false ideas (death panels) and contradictory ones (rising deficit yet, more taxes) to destroy reform that would help millions of poor and disadvantaged Americans. In addition, Republican politicians spread these ideas simply for their own political gain. I understand that politicians are often selfish but at some point many politicians are willing to do things just because they are right, even if they are not politically correct. The Republican leadership has NOTHING in mind but to help itself at the cost of many Americans happiness.

    haha hes now denying he even said it

    However, when I asked the Senator from Rhode Island what he meant by describing those who do not support the bill as "aryan," he responded "No, I didn't say that....again, pay attention to the speech."
    http://washingtontimes.com/weblogs/w...are-birthers-/

    Perhaps he should pay attention to what he says on the floor, haha, he basically called 2/3rds of america racist, ive seen many on the recent polls and its always only 31% to 40% who actually are in favour of healthcare reform.

    Uh? He didn't say anything like that.

    In fact, everything he said was ostensibly true, even if it was a stupid and irrelevant speech to make on the Senate Floor. Then again, such outbursts are hardly a rarity from either party at this point.

    Uh...did you watch what he said? He gives two reasons why there is such vocal opposition to health care reform, one racist/milita the other insurance industry.

    Uh, no, he llisted off groups that are anti-Obama and thus committed to de-railing the legislative process by any means -- and he listed such means, such as mass-hysterics. Which is true -- much of the opposition has relied on hysteria, hyperbole, and even lies rather than a nuanced consideration, criticism, or even *gasp* alternatives.

    He never, ever explicitly nor implicitly equated all opposition to health reform to being racist, a militia member, etc. It was a completely irrelevant remark, given that he was speaking to other Senators, but it wasn't what you're making it out to be.
    The Founding Fathers started a rebellion against opression that was but a fraction of the opression that is in this bill.
    Christ, that's just an utterly retarded statement.

    60% of americans oppose this and THIS is the focus of what he deems as being the major part of opposition. Come on stop defending the man's idiotic comments god, this is what is wrong with this country no one can admit "their" side is just as stupid.

    Aryan nation groups as being part of the opposition is like talking about wing Marx loving tree huggers being the heart of the anti war opposition the previous 8 years...it is pure stupidity.
