Re: M2TW gold not installing
After you uninstalled KIngdoms (I assume first) and Medieval2, deleted the Sega folder in program files, did you delete the hidden folder in users/(username)/appdata/roaming?
After all this, did you run a registry cleaner?
If not you will still get errors.

Download Eusing Free Registry Cleaner from www.eusing.com, install, run it, and repair whatever it finds.

Re: M2TW gold not installing
The problems it shows, there is a button that says Repair, Delete or something on that order. Just click it and watch the fun begin. I've been using it since Win95.

Re: M2TW gold not installing
If the disc is too dirty or scratched to be read by the dvd-rom, you have to buy a new one.

Re: M2TW gold not installing
If the surface is not smooth the laser cannot read what is under it. Scrathes are not a smooth surface. Optical drives are more sensetive than the old floppies ever were.

Re: M2TW gold not installing
There are dvd fixit kits out there to buy. Personally, I wouldn't. I don't trust them. Besides that, they probably cost as much as the game does now.

Re: M2TW gold not installing
It's not how deep or wide, it's how many and where at. If you have a buch in one spot close together it can throw off the laser light enough to keep you from reading it.

Re: M2TW gold not installing
I had this same problem just now on my new laptop (Vista Home Premium 64 bit). No scratches on my disc either, I take care of them and used this one up until maybe a month ago. I'm still working on the install but I passee the error you just received after I disabled the UAC, rebooted and tried again. If you have not done so, give that a try. If you don't know how to disable UAC, google it...that's what I did and so far so good.
