NTW seems to me as a game were it is your goal to conquer with Napoleon or defeat Napoleon. But take a look on the following senario:

Napoleon is ready for the first battle of the campaign. He sends his troops forward, to the enemy. And suddenly Napoleon is hit by a cannonball and dies.

Will the game still be fun if he isn't around anymore? Because it wil be just like Empire to me and if it is your opinion that it isn't fun with him dead, we'd better hope Napoleon isn't killed in the first battle due AI stupiddiness.

I want to know from you what will Napoleon Total War will be if Napoleon dies too easy.
    Vale,

P.S. Would you please point out if I make any grammatical or spelling errors? It would be very much appreciated. I will rep+ you if you can also explain the error to me.

errrrrr they already said that if napoleon "dies" he returns to paris. The same goes for the duke of wellington, Blucher, Alexander, etc.

Okuto, where did you find that they will go back to their Paris? And why would all those others go to Paris to?

As far as I know, all the previews by gaming sites (i.e., IGN, Gamespot, ec.) have said that only Napoleon gets to live twice. If he "dies" the first time he goes to Paris to "recuperate" and is unavailable for several turns; if he dies the second time then he's dead for good.
Let me persuade you with my powerful logic skills.

In light of the Total War series, a quote from the theologian whom I respect the most:

The Heavenly City outshines Rome, beyond comparison. There, instead of victory, is truth; instead of high rank, holiness.

I didn't know that, but I don't read previews. Well, learned something more! But I don't like the idea, though I think it is good for the gameplay. But I didn't want to buy it anyway.

My fear is that the major leaders will end up spending the entire game trying to avoid an assassin's blade. I agree that it would really make the game much less enjoyable to continue without Napoleon, Wellington, and a few other major generals because they have been hit by a random cannonball a couple of time but it would really chap my hide if one of these guys ends up with a blade sticking in his ribs twice. If that does happen frequently it will almost certainly be one of the first things modded out of the game.

Well of course it depends on how this is implemented. I won't mind if it is simply something that requires me to take precautions and is not a frequent occurance. However, if the game becomes General Hunt: TW then it would ruin my enjoyment quite a bit. We will see.

In my favourite game 'Age of Napoleon' the Allies win if Napoleon is killed. However,I can't think of too many important leaders that were killed in battle in the Nap, Wars. Lannes, Picton and a few others come to mind but it would spoil the historic flavour if assassins could kill leaders. It just didn't happen and although some had close escapes it was rare for an important leader to be killed.

It was my understanding that no general would actually die, but rather just go back to the capital and be unavailable for awhile.

napoleon and the other leaders should just be wounded when they fall in battle, and be respawned at the capital every time...

i dont even want to imagine what it would be like to lose napoleon because of some random cannonball i just experienced that in empire with my best general and it was in the first 10 turns

That will happen with Napoleon. He will never die, just be wounded and respawn in paris.
