I had wanted to make these remarks sooner, but ultimately thought it best to wait until now. Despite all the drama and some truly harrowing weeks trying to manage this place without a Curator, I ultimately enjoyed my time as a Censor. It has been many years since I last served the site in an official capacity, and it was a pleasure and an honour to do so again once more. In truth, I would actually love to continue, but given that it's a new year and change is in the air (and I'm sure I've overstayed my welcome by now!), perhaps it is best for me to step aside and let someone else take over.
Firstly, I would like to thank atthias, who was my companion and comrade-in-arms throughout most of my term. Even though the Curia might not have seen it, behind the scenes you were always a professional, helpful and overall great Censor. I would have certainly had a far more stressful, difficult and miserable time had you not been by my side. It was a very peculiar experience, us two being the only two people in the Politia at times, but you made those days all the brighter. I wish you the best of luck in the remainder of your term my friend.
Secondly, I have to thank Tango for stepping in when times got rough and lending a hand. You graciously and patiently devoted your own time to helping us pick up the pieces when we were absent a Curator - not once, but twice. You also indulged far too much of my childish teasing, which was very sweet of you.
Next, I have to thank Brew, for always being on hand not only to offer his own sage wisdom, but to be there for me when I needed to let off some steam. Your help and advice throughout my two terms was invaluable and your guidance not only made me - I hope - a better Censor, but ultimately a better Citizen.
I would also like to thank Van Zandt, for holding me to the mast. I know we have spoken privately and cleared the air already, but I would like to say publicly again that I hold no ill will against you for the VonC and I respect you for sticking to your principles.
My dear old friends Alwyn and Cai are also deserving of my thanks. Despite the pair of you not being Curial regulars, you both took the time out of your days to check up on me and offer your support, and I do really appreciate it (as I appreciate all that you do). I would also like to extend that thanks to everyone - strangers and friends alike - who offered their own well wishes, help and advice throughout my tenure, whether they were public posts, PMs or even just rep messages. There are far too many of you to list, but each of your messages brought a smile to my face in otherwise rather trying times.
And last, but certainly not least, I would like to thank Pike, for - if you will excuse the bluntness - taking it on the chin. I hope you know that our decision was nothing personal and indeed that it ultimately transpired to be one I felt quite painful to make. So even though I do stand by what we did, there is a part of me that was sorry to do it. But I am honestly glad that it hasn't dampened your spirits and that you are still as active as ever here. I hope we can move on and put it behind us.
I think that's everything. I wish the best of luck to my successor - whoever he may be - and I hope 2019 will be a great year for the Curia. I think now I will finally have a bit of a rest~
