Aint nobody getting a taste of this brew! (Exceptions can be made for hot blondes of the fairer sex)
One of the beauties of traveling around the US is the plethora of microbreweries. I love sampling a modest brewer as well. The story behind each recipe is often as good as the beer itself.
Yeah except now they you over with their awful pricing system. They've really changed for the worst.
This is a good example of how something I say repeatedly gets twisted into something negative. Instead of trying to come to a better understanding of what I was writing, you chose to twist into something negative. I stated in the last reply...correction, and I posed the question; when do real-world end and the virtual world begin? As you noted it could create a conundrum. Instead of starting from that question, you chose to "debate" a term I repeatedly stated was nebulous and difficult to define. Differentiating "Real" from "Virtual" is difficult. Are friends online within a community as real as friends in the "real" world? From an emotional standpoint, I would say no. I have met people in real life from virtual communities. I have spoken, and skyped/ and team talked with others. I am not sure there is a black and white answer here. That being said, clearly the "roles" you perform here exist within one realm, the virtual one. The only activity that can transcend this barrier is modding.
To revisit the friendship angle. Friendships are as real as the people that you have met make them be. There are obviously people who create a different persona than the one they have in the real world. For some people, this is a form of escapism, for example, if you are shy and introverted in person, you may be active and aggressive in the virtual world. However, this doesn't mean they lack sincerity. Personally, I am sincere. My downside is my humor gets completely lost here. In real life, I am modest, easy going, and very humorous (though it can be extremely dry). The virtual Pike is different only in interpretation. How does that fit into real or not real?
If I can conclude anything, it is that this is a virtual community with real emotions, real work, and real relationships. If giving an opportunity, I will meet anyone on here in real life. Essentially, because I have no idea how you really are in person.

I honestly look forward to the day you stop being obnoxious towards me.

Need I say more?
I leave for five minutes and we go from talking about beer to something serious? Back to the beer!

Funny you should say,... having a bit of beer right now. I am drinking a Bitburger. It isn't my favorite beer I have had in Germany, but it isn't bad for a pilsner.
Pilsners aren't very popular here for some reason, at least it's hard to find them in any brewery. They aren't my favorite beers, but they're not bad at all. I like them a lot better than these triple hopped IPA monstrosities that taste like moss tea. I guess from a country of origin standpoint we lean more British than German, at least from my perspective. I think Belgian beer is even more visible than German beer/
Pilsners are at the bottom of my list. I only like to drink them with a schooner. it brings out the flavor the best. Like you, I love Belgian ales. I still miss the Belgian Bar in Dubai. A good Belgian beer with a fine cigar. The life!
Germany does have some variety. My favorite thus far is Schofferhofer.
I have not had the privilege of tasting it!
On an unrelated note, I wonder how many of the de bodemloze crew know their true origins.

Eventually you might ask yourself, 'is it me!'
I don't think it's within the curators remit to moderate the curia. Though appreciated if things get out of hand. In this instance it has not, yet.Originally Posted by Brew

Just out of interest, open question to anyone - 'curial warning.' - What is that..?
Since TWC is not the only forum for which I am a member and this only happens here by a small select number of members, I would conclude that it is not me.
Perhaps certain member should ask themselves, "why do I continuously give one member a hard time?"
The Constitution states;
There are absolutely no powers given to the Curator other than what is stated in the Constitution. Which is itself interesting, because my "VonC" was entirely predicated on this argument. There is nowhere stated in the Constitution where the Curator has an advisory role over the Censors. The Censors have full powers to act in accordance with the Constitution. The Curator is responsible for ensuring the Curia's day-to-day tasks are accomplished
As far as "Curial Warning" is a concern, I would guess one would have to go back to the first document that governed this site to find the origins of that term.
And is moderation not a "day-to-day" task?
As far as I know, the Curator can moderate the Curia. It's been that way numerous time. Why should it change now?
The phrase is used in the constitution a few times (but not in III, where you might expect it). As Pike infers, the curator's office doesn't actually have any capacity to issue such a warning. They are moderators but in a civil service role, not a policing one, and rightly so. Historically overbearing curatorships have caused much friction. And within the minutiae of section III, neither do the censors. In fact, no one does.
So it's just a curiosity of the constitution?
That VonC was predicated on the fact you repeatedly ignored requests to stop abusing your position as censor by impersonating a moderator in the tribunal. Hmm, you know, it really is you...Which is itself interesting, because my "VonC" was entirely predicated on this argument. There is nowhere stated in the Constitution where the Curator has an advisory role over the Censors. The Censors have full powers to act in accordance with the Constitution.
If it's not in the constitution it can't be enforced. It simply peaked my interest when Brew posted a (gentle) warning in this thread. Honestly can't recall a curator moderating here...Originally Posted by Lift
