Not sure if this is the best place to post this. I don't know much about Tango12345's work on staff personally, but he's served on Vault Staff for 1 year, Moderation for a 1.5 years, and Content for 3 years. Perhaps someone who's worked with him during that time would be able to assess whether he's a good candidate for Novus.
That award has always been misconstrued as being an award for exceptional Curators, when that's just one of the possible recipient categories. It's not the Judge's Gavel but it's been historically awarded in the same way. The medal text states:
Serving the Curia with distinction could mean a lot of things. Service in an elected or appointed position, such as: curator, curator's assistant, cdec (former), triumvirate, magistrate, speaker of the house (former), etc. Service on Curial run committees and initiatives such as the ones spawned from the Forum Magnum, like managing site awards or the curial news CMS stuff recently introduced. Service by way of offering up quality ideas in the form of Proposals and Amendments, especially those that are useful and enacted. Service by contributing quality opinions information to discussions in the Curia. Service by patronizing Citizens.
All of those and possibly others should be profiled as a whole to ascertain whether an individual has served the Curia with distinction. Maybe if people know they can get a shiny medal (err.. dusty scroll) through combinations of those things we'll get more well thought out proposals and involvement in initiatives...
The topic made me curious to flex some SQL so I ran a few queries on the Archives to see which Citizens have contributed the most to proposals based on certain criteria.
The first set of results lists all Citizens who have made 10 or more threads of any status in the Archives (not guaranteed to all be proposals, but likely to be), in order of total:

Note that the above excludes and is biased against the Citizens who were active before prefixes were added (around 2008?), some of which are at the top of the previous list (Sim, tBP, Beli, Asterix, Mim, Garb, Tom Paine, etc) and likely had numerous passed proposals as well. There's no easy way to query that since threads in the vote forum are created by the Curator. The Annals may provide some insight here.
Here's another interesting one, number of posts made by a user in any of the Curia forums (including hidden ones), listing users with more than 500:

Obviously number of posts doesn't necessarily speak to quality of content, some of those could be "Voted", but it's still as good a metric as any to gauge Curial involvement.
Those are just a few metrics I could come up with off the top of my head. Things like offices/terms served are listed in the annals. So we can see that, for example, Aikanar has made 3,775 posts in the Curia and posted 17 proposals/threads (15 of which passed, a pretty impressive percentage). It's plain to see that the current list of recipients is hardly the only set of Citizens who have "served the Curia with distinction".
Some interesting numbers. Quite surprised to see myself in a few of those lists considering I exiled myself for 5 years...
I agree very much. There are lots of people who've "served the Curia with distinction." Though I'm surprised Aik has had such an influence, I thought he was the Chai Wallah..

#1 would get my vote any day in the week for this. If anybody is going to craft an application for that and needs some words with regards to his Vault Work, simply shoot me a pm

Without sugar, as always, effendi?
Don't let AL fool you though, he just went to extraordinary lengths to demonstrate that I'm a curial spammer with too much time at my hands. And he is too

Indeed. Though it seems strange but 5 years is becoming not much time in the history of TWC, we're up to what, 12-13 years now depending on what's considered the origin? I'd venture it's been awhile since anyone has uttered the words Patrician or Speaker of the House, but that's all part of the phases we went through to get here which you had an active hand in and which that Historian proposal is seeking to properly chronicle.
I'm an Acai Green Tea man myself, though I've been known to dabble in Oolong...

You caught me. This entire ruse has all just been so I can attempt to mess up your one row postbit display with a musty scroll, etched with the words 'Aikanar, first among spammers, forever may he procrastinate.'
Interesting, when looking at the results I see that there is one vote changed to yes (that would be Halie's, I presume) but the name still remains at the original choice.
This is normal. When you edit a poll you can only edit the number of votes cast per option, you cannot add or subtract the name of the voter from the original option the vote was cast for.
Agreed, but I think the Curator should be able to remove the title from someone who is not "devoting some proper work to it".
How DARE you challenge my divine mandate to hold onto titles I clearly have no possible way to make any use of!
Consider this post my belated retirement from the position of head historian. The role was never entirely clear to me, and here's hoping whoever does it in the future does a better job than me.

Are you saying that I should withdraw my intention of proposing the Curial Service Award based exclusively on your devotion and dedication to this post?

I hate to blow my own horn, but I humbly accept the award. I feel like I was a real innovator when it came to that position. I took a job and title that could have been something special in terms of content creation, and I turned it into something empty and worthless.
