So, in the end, what happened with the whole Consul / Admin thing from a month or two ago? Just logged in after a while and it's pretty quiet around here...

There is a new constitution
It seems that the few citizens who still passed by here from time to time are not very happy with the decision that the consul has been chosen by the administration given the conduct shown by the previous one the citizens had elected. In my opinion, the only thing that has changed is this discontent, essentially nothing is diferent, even if someone wants to be a consul or magistrate they can apply, no one is going to prohibit it, A minimum number of users supporting a not absolutely crazy candidacy would, I suppose, be accepted by the administration.
Not if I manage to convince the Hex to make me into the Dictator. You can trust my honesty, can't you?
But seriously, I think Leandros wants to know more in details what happened. @Leandros, basically the elected Consul abused his powers and was removed from the office by the Hex. But the problem comes from far my dude: I'm not going to tell the full story again, but let me tell this: the Curia, as it was in the past, has no more sense to exist, the same is true for the Tribunal. Can things change? sure they can, but until more life will come into this site, the Hex (and I share their view) decided to reduce Curia's needs for people to the minimum by appointing me as a perpetual Consul and by reducing the number of active fora. It is still possible to nominate people for awards and propose amendments and decisions, but we don't need anymore to run elections (for which we struggled to find candidates, even more proper candidates), nor post curial reports and all that sort of useless stuff that only bored people. AFAIK the Tribunal part is still under development.

Is there anything known about the decomposition process of individuals who have undergone intensive cosmetic surgeries? Is it possible that if they dig it up it will be practically, ehem, uncorrupted? If so, could we attribute it not to the plastic materials on his body and face but to his holiness? Now please don't tell me he was cremated.
He was cremated.. it was the only way for him to be buried on his personal mausoleum.. that's what they wanted us to believe anyways, in truth he faked his death, pretended to be cremated and now went back to his home planet, Bunga Bunga Prime, on the Mediaset Planetary System.

just a stupid question, which comes from afar
as a staffer and especially as a Hex, I got every kind of offensive PMs over the years, most of which I've ignored completely (except for those who were connected to particularly abusive users involved in the probation process).. now I was just asking myself, what if instead of ignoring/reporting them, I just published them? I'm referring to the infamous citizenship higher standards, what would have been the consequences of doing so?
If I look at it moderation wise, as an abused user, I have no obligation to either report or even keep secret any abusive PM I might have received, so there won't be consequences for me; Moderation would probably take care of the published abusive PM in any case, but there would be that window of time during which some citizens would see it, and remember what's there..
So again, assuming both the abused and the abuser were citizens, what would be the consequences of doing anything like that? It's a purely theoretical question, I just want to see if maybe there was a venue for ostrakones that no one ever considered.
ps yes I'm horribly hot and bored these days

The further back you go, the more likely fellow red men would have been stirred and it might have been a gamble for whatever position you had at the moment. I doubt there's much of that these days, but correspondingly it wouldn't matter anymore either.
The rate of takedown/consequence could be less or nil if it was in some internal third party chat nobody leaked, or at this point even a more open server.
It probably would have helped in a few ostrakons to just let some of the greatest hits speak for themselves. Removing them has always kinda neutered the point of the ostrakon system and the idea of higher standard accountability.

Flinn, for what it's worth, I think publishing abusive messages is a very good idea. Let everyone see what the people who sent those messages are like - as I see it, that's the consequence of publishing them.

On the flipside there are users who would see the published messages and think "I want my 15 minutes of fame" and just send you more.

Yes, that is always the risk. Personally, I'd go down the publish and (let them) be damned route anyway. If they carry on after that then Moderation can take out the trash.
I am not a big fan of the color changes.
