    Default The Patriarch and Turkey

    http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=6001717n

This is a very important issue. The Patriarch of the Orthodox church is treated liked a second class citizen, and all monasteries and most Christian theological buildings have been shut down. The Turkish government shows no respect to those living there. I urge you to watch the whole video. It shows the humility of the Patriarch, as well as a signed document written by Mohammed declaring that Christians in the area should be respected. A very good watch, and well worth your time.

Just like when Switzerland banning the minaret? Showing no respect for the people living there?

What does that have to do with anything having to do with the Patriarch? The two are unaffiliated. Don't point out comparisons that cannot be made.

No, im saying that you are claiming a muslim country is banning churches making a christian feel "cruxified", but when Switzerland banned the minaret there, making the muslims feel uncomfortable, theres nothing wrong with that?

But other then that, Bartholamew seems like a very nice guy though. He is calm in talking.

Whilst I like the Patriarch, he seems like a good person, I don't see what his problem is...

He feels like a second-class citizen because the Government won't treat him like an international authority? They should, but if they don't, fair enough.

Because they closed down a school in accordance with the law? What, does he want an exception for such a tiny minority, an exception which dosen't go for even the majority?

They closed down all the Christian schools. It has nothing to do with the law.

Under a law prohibiting Private Higher Education.

It wasn't a blanket ban on Christian schools

I can agree with that, that's a stupid law.

But might be necessary considering the Kurd separatists and such, they don't need a legitimate way to train themselves.

Ya, but to hurt the majority like that for something that could be taken out a different way.

Besides, I like the Kurds. The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

The Turkish government did a good thing banning those Christian school since religious schools don't fit in the 21st century. I wish they would be removed he in the Netherlands.

You bring up Switzerland which has nothing to do with this issue. But you are right however, how can we forget the Emirate of Switzerland which was violently conquered by Christians who expelled all the Muslims out over the centuries to the point that they are just a minority. The Christians should go back to where they came from and leave the Muslim land of Switzerland to its original owners!

    Oh wait...

The law for private schools had the intent that is exactly specified by the Patriarch. Some correction however, he isn't our pope. For example he has no authority over the Romanian Orthodox Church or the Russian etc. They are all autocepholous.

I just want to point out, that if the situation was reversed even the most restrained Muslim would say it would be enough cause for Jihad since it would be considered "defensive jihad." Thankfully we don't play by the same rules.

What do you mean it has nothing to do with this issue? The Switzaerland goverment banned the minaret, now just because Turkey banned a church, what? It's a big deal?

    Good job Turkey.

They should ban religions in the first place.

If Turkey decided to play the game of "Shoot ten christans get a free ice cream cone" then I wouldn't even bat an eye lid. Its their country and they can make up whatever funky laws they want. Hell Switzerland banned minarets, so lets ban chruches. Seems fair to me. Make sure that any Christan is also met with a "Welcome to Hell" banner the Turks put up for the Swiss.

Muslim tolerance for everyone to see. "Hey it's their country!" But if someone did something to Muslims it's all "oh the injustice." This is the problem with Islam, the adherence use double standards such as this.

Then don't take them in. Its simple. But no, rather than fixing their own religious issues they tend to make christans in the ME and the Muslim lands as maytars. So will you be worshiping this primach as well CW?
