Icon5 OFFICIAL: The DMUC Launcher Tutorial - What's it all about?

    IMPORTANT INFORMATION - PLEASE READ:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
YOU MUST USE THE DARTHMOD ULTIMATE COMMANDER LAUNCHER OR THE MOD WILL NOT WORK!

WHEN YOU START THE DMUC LAUNCHER, IT AUTOMATICALLY BACKUPS ANY USER SCRIPT IN THE SCRIPT FOLDER AND REPLACES IT WITH THE DMUC CUSTOM USER SCRIPT FILE. THE DMUC SCRIPT FILE CAN BE EDITED VIA THE DMUC LAUNCHER. (SEE TIPS ON ADDING MODS BELOW). WHEN YOU EXIT THE DMUC LAUHCHER, THE DMUC CUSTOM SCRIPT FILE IN RETURNED TO "STORAGE" (ALONG WITH ANY CHANGES YOU MADE) AND AUTOMATICALLY RESTORES BACKED UP USER SCRIPT FILE TO THE SCRIPTS FOLDER.

WHEN CHOOSING OPTIONS VIA THE DMUC LAUNCHER, THE BUTTON ALWAYS SHOW THE CURRENT STATUS OF A PARTICULAR OPTION!

When you first open the DMUC Launcher you are presented with the DMUC Launcher Main Menu:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Here you are presented with the options for the ULTIMATE CAMPAIGN, the GRAND CAMPAIGN, the ROAD TO INDEPENDENCE Campaign and the WARPATH DLC Campaign. Plus the DEACTIVATE DMUC PACK FILES Button, the OPTIONS Button and, of course, the EXIT button.

Quick Note: The DEACTIVATE DMUC PACK FILES Button allows you to quickly move all DMUC related pack files from the ETW\data folder to a backup folder located at etw\data\DMUC\Backup. This is useful if you are not currently playing DMUC and wish to install and play other large mods, It is also helpful in trouble shooting issues with other mods by eliminating any possible "interference" of DMUC pack files in the data folder.

Now before starting a campaign, you will need to go to the button near the bottom, called "OPTIONS" and clicking it will give us the DMUC Options Menu:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The Option Menu should be self-explainitory.

BTW - Does anyone ever actually read the readme?

Let's start by working our way down from the top, shall we?

Clicking the GAME OPTIONS button will give us the Game Options Menu. (What? Where you expecting Sushi?)
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Ok, now here's the breakdown of the selectable mods available on the Game Options Menu:

GRENADES = By default, DarthMod has grenades disabled for ALL units. Turning this mod ON will give grenades back to the units that normally have them.

If the option to enable grenades is chosen, the affected units will have their recruitment and upkeep cost raised by 20% to help preserve game balance.

ARTILLERY MODS = By default all Artillery Mods are disabled. Clicking this button will allow you to choose between ONE of the following options:
25% Fast Reload (Artillery reloads 25% faster)
2x Accuracy (Artillery is twice as accurate)
4x Accuracy (Artillery has quadrupled accurate plus 25% Fast Reload)
2x Accuracy + 25% Fast Reload (Artillery is twice as accurateplus 25% Fast Reload)
4x Accuracy + 25% Fast Reload (Artillery has quadrupled accurate)
Artillery Units x1.5 (6 cannons instead of 4 per unit)
Artillery Units x2 (6 cannons instead of 4 per unit)

If you select the larger Artillery Units, please note that the cost have been increased proportionately to the increase in unit size to preserve game balnce and prevent AI spamming massive amounts of artillery.

SIEGE BATTLES = (No Forts Mod) This mod means what it says. When switch to OFF, any and all forts are removed from the campaign battle maps, so NO MORE BROKEN FORT BATTLES!

NAVAL MOD = By default this mod is disabled. Enabling this mod will change Naval Stats, Campaign Movement and Battle Map Combat. This is the mod made by Niamad and more info can be found here: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=299805

DM FORMATIONS = This mod is ON by Default and is built into DarthMod itself. When this mod is turned OFF, ETW Vanilla formations is used by the AI on the battle maps. Leaving this mod ON is considered to general improve Battle AI performance.

ALT BRITISH UNITS = By default this mod is disabled. Enabling this mod enables alternate British Units for DM by POM. The units are based on the Seven Years War and replace several Vanilla Units and have their own Seven years War themed skins. More info here: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=311597
This mod CAN NOT be change during a campaign or you WILL get CTDs!

WP INDIANS FOR GC = By default this mod is set to OFF. When you enable the mod, the nicer Native American Warpath models will be used in the Ultimate and Grand Campaigns. YOU MUST HAVE PURCHASED THE WARPATH DLC TO ENABLE THIS MOD!

Now I really don't have to explain the BACK button do I?

OK, time to move on the next set of options.

Back at the OPTIONS MENU, clicking on the VIDEO OPTIONS button will yield this lovely menu:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Ok, now here's the breakdown of the selectable mods on the Advanced Options Menu:

ENHANCED SMOKE = This option is OFF by default. Click this button allows you to select between the different levels of enhanced smoke. You have OFF (vanilla, for Low end PCs), LITE (for Low-End PCs), MEDIUM (for Mid-Level PCs) and FULL (for Hi-End PCs) Enhanced Smoke effects. (Actual frame rates may vary ) This the DM version of the Blood and Smoke Mod by Mech Donald. More info can be found here: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=237457

ENHANCED SMOKE TRAILS = This option is linked to the ENHANCED SMOKE MOD and should be self-explanitory. It is only selectable if you have Enhanced Smoke Enabled as it only affects the enhanced smoke effects, not vanilla smoke.

ENHANCED HUD = This gives the option of the ENHANCED HUD OFF (default), the LEATHER HUD ON or the TRANSPARENT HUD for the battle map. NOTE: Some video cards/driver combinations do not always work well this mod. If you encounter graphic issues and updating your drivers doesn't correct it, then try setting this option to OFF.

MOVEMENT ARROWS = Allow you to choose between Green Movement Arrows (default) or new Blue Movement Arrows on battle maps.

BATTLEFIELD BORDERS = Allow you to choose between have the red battlefield markers ON (default) of OFF on battlefield maps.

CAMPAIGN MARKERS = Allow you to choose between have the green campaign markers ON (default) of OFF on campaign maps.

And so that wraps up the Video Option Menu!

    Next up is AUDIO OPTIONS:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

DMUC SOUNDS = This is ON by default. Switching this option to OFF will disable all Sound Mods.

DMUC MUSIC = This is ON by default. Switching this option to OFF will disable all Music Mods.

DISABLE DRUM & FIFE = This is button does exaclty what it says. It disables any DMUC Drum & Fife Music.

DARTHMOD GREETING = This is ON by default. Switching this option to OFF will disable the verbal Darth Vader Greeting when starting the DMUC Launcher.

The DRUM & FIFE OPTIONS Menu will give these options:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Ok, so basically these options allow you to choose whatever version of drum and fife music your little heart desires to hear in game during battles. It's a simple as that.

So finally, back at the OPTIONS MENU, we come to the dreaded DIAGNOSTIC OPTIONS: (eek! gasp!)
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Yesssss.... This is where all you bad boys eventually have to come to, isn't it, you little "Dennis the Menaces" out there... All right then, let's break it down (now that you've broken the mod, LOL)

DM ONLY (SAFE MODE) = When you are having issues, choosing this option is basically the first step in seeing if the issue is with DarthMod itself or some in the added DMUC Mods. When you click this button. It first deletes any user.empire_script.txt in the ETW Script folder and then launches ETW with DarthMod Lite ONLY via a hardcoded commandline option. All other DMUC mods will be disabled.

OPEN ETW DATA FOLDER and OPEN ETW DATA FOLDER = Hey, do I really have to explain this one? It's here for quick and easy access for adding mods, troubleshooting, ect. What can I say? I'm a nice guy like that.

ENABLE ADV DIAG OPTIONS = A safety feature so to speak, to prevent accidental resets. Clicking it will enable 3 of the 4 Button listed below it.

RESET USER SCRIPT FILES = For the DMUC to work properly, the DMUC must use special custom user.empire_script.txt files included with the mod. For various reasons and/or errors, these files may get corrupted, deleted, mangled or whatever and may need to be RESET for the DMUC to work properly. Selecting this option will delete all current DMUC user script files and replace them with backups.

EDIT PREF SCRIPT FILE = This option is for ADVANCED USERS ONLY! This option open the preferences.empire_script.txt file in Notepad and allow the user to manually edit game setting. BTW, did I mention it was for ADVANCED USERS ONLY!

DELETE PREF SCRIPT FILE = OK, so you weren't the advanced user you though you were. Now you've screwed up the preferences.empire_script.txt and now the game won't boot or some other crazy issue. Selectin this option will DELETE the preferences.empire_script.txt. Then start the game again and it will generate a new file. Note: at this point, all ETW game setting (dispaly, audio, ect) will be rest to default. (I told you it was for Advanced Users, LOL)

MENU MOVIE AUTOMATIC = Normally, this button should be greyed out at all times. If not, it will read MENU MOVIE RESET. If it does, you should click it to reset the DMUC movies to automatic or the wrong movies will play.

Ok, that my friends is all the info should need for the DMUC Options.

    MORE TO COME!
