    Default 6.1 or 6.2?

I'm trying to decide which to play. I believe 6.1 was the last release by KK, and 6.2 is a collection of post 6.1 add-ons?

I know I liked 6.1 when I played a while back, does 6.2 improve on enough things to warrant an install over 6.1?

Also, if 6.2 has RR, is there an option to turn it off, as I'm not fond of militia wars for 200 years.

I would strongly recommend SS 6.2, as most people would as well. It does add a lot to the mod, including mini-campaigns, as well as improving the mod, both in terms of game-play and roster. Not sure about the RR question though.

However, I don't know how good your computer is, but SS 6.2 does take forever to load on my computer. Each turn can take up to 2-3 minutes.

If your PC can handle it I strongly SS 6.2 as well. It stabilizes the Mod and has many nice features. I alway found SS6.1 to be unstable...

Wait, what do you mean by "mini-campaigns", I don't remember there being any mini campaigns in version 6.2?

Also I was wondering if there is a way to combine v6.2 plus BRG 4 and RR?

The RR/RC compilation includes all 3.

    It easily can, I assume.

I read the change log, but unless you want to wade through 100 pages of commentary, it is hard to get a handle on how broadly it effects actual gameplay.

Yeh I get this aswell they should bold all the big things and leave the little things like settlement name changes and slight changes.

RR includes 6.2, but 6.2 does not include RR. But honestly the current RR version is not so bad when playing late era you can spice up your armies with some quality units in the first 10-20 turns. Playing asCrusader states, mongols and some other factions you get plenty of kik ass units right of the bat, its just you cant make a full army of knights so easily.

In any case its your preference im just presenting a viewpoint. Cheers

It's always my preference to start in the earliest time period.

Just click on the installer for 6.1 again to reinstall (should only take a few seconds to reinstall as 6.1 ain't that large) simply de-select RR when the option appears, then install 6.2. I also prefer early campaigns and playing with Levi sergeants and peasant archers for the first 100 years and not much beyond for the next 100 years was getting boring; so this way you can play 6.2 without RR (or atleast it works for me). I definitely recommend 6.2, if not for the minor bug fixes and smarter AI then for the nice graphical improvements you will notice.

6.2 is an official release. It's was developed by Gracul with KK's blessing. It includes a bunch of bug fixes and is more stable than 6.1

Thanks, I'll try 6.2. My main thing is I did not want to be forced into RR with the proclaimed focus on "total war" in this version. I appreciate the RR goal, but as far as gameplay goes, it's too draconian for myself. Half the fun of these games is building advanced buildings and soldiers.

Would this mean, that if I had 6.1. without RR I could install 6.2 over it an it would be without RR too?

    Stephan,

Yes, sure does, as long as you instal 6.2 from Gracul's 6.2 SUB MOD, not from Point Blanks

I just discovered the RR/RC for Stainless steel compilation mod and I'm downloading it now (with so many mods its hard to keep track of things LOL) . Sure its got RR (something I was never a big fan of but i also see its got Germanicus5 BAI updated (which I am a great fan of) which should drastically smarten up the AI; as of right now I'm frankly bored of being able to defeat an army of 3000+ with only 1000 or so and taking casulties of 100 or so LOL. I am downloading it as I type this post. I will let you guys know once I get a few turns down as to how good it is and how compatible/stable it is with SS 6.2 and how much it smartness up the AI. If its not compatible with 6.2 then I might roll back to 6.1.

I have not installed 6.2. But I have installed tha lates RC/RC, and I seem to have ended up with 6.2 anyway.

Xan anyone verify this? Is 6.2 included in RC/RR?

Yes, as the download post for RR/RC specifies

P.S If you don't unerstand that it means RR/RC isn't included in the 6.2 patch
    Fancy Sigs are pointless.
Also I use that Avatar on every forums, cba to get a different one.
I've finished with "Kind Regards" in my post for years so dont feel you have to reward me for it(like someone kindly did).

Perhaps obsolete files/mods should be deleted or put in a "now obsolete" thread by admins. With so many mods and things it can get mighty confusing.

    Hi,

I have a problem, I installed the patch 6.2 and now I can recruit a lot of units from my castle. I like that in the SS 6.1 I had to wait a lot of time to be able to recruit knights for example and profesional units. There is a way to have this in SS 6.2?

I saw too that I can recruit Lancers for example (better french cavalry) in 1300, I think I need the RR right? how can I install it?

Thank you and excuse me for my bad english.

PD: Is normal in the start of the campain the AI make alliances with a lot of factions?
