I saw British Ships engaging French Ships and a noticed that the Textures of the Ship's are all unrealistic, British ships commonly had Yellow/black stripes and French White/black. If you CA guys have seen the Hornblower series like you have the Sharpe series then your guys would recognize the ships colors.

If you guys have taken emphasis to Napoleonic Regalia and Uniform then please take notice on Napoleonic Ships.

You expect CA to adhere to historical accuracy? That's not CA's priority. They've admitted it themselves with ETW and the Sloop decacle which was implemented for the sake of gameplay.

It will be up to the community to fix this and other silly details CA can't get right only IF CA releases a unit editor.

Since clearly I will be so upset that my ships aren't painted right that I will snap my NTW disc in two and burn my computer. So those CA rascals better give those ships historically accurate textures!

Are you sure the French ships were still painted white after the Revolution? (White was the Bourbon colour).

Ha, I never play naval battles anyway, but I'm sure the picture a couple of posts above is a placeholder, that came out when NTW was first announced.

@Intrepid , that looks like yellow/black stripes on the british ship and white/black stripes on the french ship.

1. What with all that smoke you don't see much, but you do get a climpse, how do you know that's what they will look like in the actual release?
2. The French land cannon chassis is correct(green) something many of you won't care about, me, I use to help make battle diorama's for a living and knowing the difference, and seeing CA made the effort is nice to know!
3. It would be good if CA do get the ships right, because it would make them more distinctive in battle when close up, especially if you don't like using the flags above the ships. It also gives the game a bit more immersion, seeing the enemies colour scheme, being able to identify the 'enemy' in the same way you can a nations blue or red coat.

People should be allowed to make threads like this without being moaned at for whinning. Different details/aspects of the game, have more interest/concern upon us individually, I certainly don't moan at people who 'whine' about stuff I don't care about, it's whatever floats your boat at the end of the day.

but no seriously this is possibly the most petty grip of heard about this game now, in naval battles peopel arnt really paying that much attention to the strips on a side of the ship

Why don't you state your gripes about ETW and I'll see if can critisize the points you raise because to me they might not be an issue. For example quite a few people don't like the grapnel hooks used in fort attacks, I don't like them, but don' really care, I just ignore them, other players find them so annoying that they don't want to fight the sieges, do I critize their 'pettiness' because they can't ignore the issue?

the fact that ive paid money for the game and ever since patch 1.4 my game CTDs when starting up, ive done all suggestions to fix it but it still crashes.
diplomatic AI is rubbish, however this is balanced by the fact the rest of AI is so rubbish, but it makes the game bland compared to other total war games
and there is very little incentive to make the battle very mobile (i know this has been the case in other total war games but here its emphasised) so battles usually consist of one army sitting wghile the other moves across the map and tires out his troops

CA has no plan to make historical acc. But anyway, I think atleast they make their (UK) ships acc.

If they are wrong then it's fair to assume that will be fixed by mods on this forum like with ETW.

Those are old pics. The textures might be the same, but we haven't seen any naval screens made with the new version of the engine (I think).

Its not like pointing such obvious, and easy to fix, errors will make that the game releases in April, no? Do you think that fixing such stuff will increase the price of the game?
There will be always those who would not care if the French troopers would wear fantasy gear or love using flaming pigs and puckle guns, but for others, more interested in history, such things detract alot from the game experience.

it won't matter if they allow ships to sail around with their entire sides blown off. Nothing destroys immersion more than looking at the side of your ship and seeing 10 gaping holes, yet the ships is still sliding across the top of the water, without listing or slowing down

no gripe based on historical accuracy is petty in a game franchise that prides itself on being historically accurate. if it's been called to attention, it should be addressed as they can no longer feign ignorance. this should be the system people stand behind. not some complacent "i don't care" attitude that eventually leads to degraded quality.

what happens when people stop complaining? they'll see no reason to maintain historical accuracy. people like the op are the mainstay of this community, and naysayers pretty much need to go play call of duty or something as that's apparently more in line with their taste.
