    Default Embarassing Questions

I've done some looking around and can't figure some things out, probably basic stuff to SS regulars.

1 - How do you play as or enable the existence of KoJ and the Teutons in the Early campaign?

2 - is there a SS manual or guide somewhere that I can look up really basic stuff like this? the online unit and building guide is nice, I know about that one.

3 - I want to change the Templar character names so that adoption candidates come from all over Christendom, is there any way to do this without without jumbling cultures in a single character's name? (ie: Jorge Tittlington von Frankenburger) I just changed the descr_names.txt file to make them French in the meantime - starting a migration game with the Templar capital in Florence.

so the last one probably isn't so simple, or possible?

There is no such thing as a dumb question. There are lots of people here to help.

    1. In 6.1, the KOJ is not a faction, it is basically unused. To make them playable, there is a great tutorial here:
http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=76202. However, there are a few mods where either the KOJ or the Crusader States are playable at the the start of the campaign.
Teutons are an emergent faction, showing up around the 170th year. Follow the same tutorial to make them playable off the start.
    2. There is not really a manual per se out there about SS (although it is being considered) or how to mod it. Most of your questions can be answered in the modding workshop.
    3. I am not an expert in names but there is another tutorial here:

    Hope this helps.

Nice, thanks for that. The character names tutorial was really helpful getting the French names in there. I guess there's no good way to incorporate characters of different nationalities into one faction without the names jumbling ... I guess you could program their full names as first names and have the engine display them how you want, but there would still be no way to have the characters' children retain the displayed surname.
