    Default Is SS for me?

So I can't quite find a thread spelling out what SS mod is. I've recently gotten Kingdoms so I wanted to give some mods a go. I wasn't the biggest fan of M2TW because of a very arcady battle system, something I'm not into especially after playing ExtendedRealism for RTW.

I'm looking over the unit/building Database now, and from what I gather there's now the need for supply lines and keeping your troops happy in the field. This is good!

However, how are the battles? Were the silly units removed, like rocket-launching elephants and the like?
Do my units have ungodly stamina?
Do my knights sit there and stab at the enemy with a lance after the charge ends?
What other kinds of changes, especially in regards to realism, have been made?

SS is totally for you, an im not just saying that, according to what you outlined you want it really is.

First if you want realism i would advise you to dive straight into RR/RC mini mod compilation, and the supply system for 6.2 is available there through the BYG minimod.(its called the RR/RC compilation in submod thread)

First off SS is M2 +, more factions, more regions, more units, more events, new city models for strat map, Unique historical buildings, multiple campaigns (early, late).

As far as realism goes, yes all the crazy canon elephant units are gone. SS has many unique units, and RR/RC will absolutely blow your mind, Byzantine, Rus, Mongol, Cuman units are completely redone, they are very historically accurate, and look amazing, much better then original ones. The battles are very realistic again especially with RC(real combat), horse archers have shorter ranges, cav charges are realistic, heavy cav are actually slower. Archers cant easily kill heavily armored troops. So on and so forth. And there is new Battle AI, its far from perfect but the enemy no longer stands there endlessly reshuffling their troops and other such absurdities.

I could go on and on, but basically this is what you're looking for, and the submods really give you some unique features that could really make your game incredible.

So I install both SS and Realistic Recruitment / Realistic Combat? Or do you recommend I only stick with the latter two?

I checked the submod forum here: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=160920

Didn't see RR/RC compilation, unless I overlooked it. BYG mod is in the 6.1 patch installer, yes?

Yes you need to install both as RR/RC is a sub mod for SS and is an addition to SS not a stand alone mod. You will need to install SS 6.0 then 6.1 with no extra options selected, then install RR/RC.

But anyway here is the link to the RR thread there are full install instructions there.

This should all be in RR installation instructions, so you should follow that to make sure you dont make a mistake.

But i believe it says don't chose anything when installing regular SS and when you're installing RR/RC BGR will be available as a separate folder that will have files you will need to paste in your SS data folder, just follow the instructions and ask any questions you may have in the RR thread they are helpful.

but honestly i would hold off on BGR for just a bit, it gets really complex and there are a lot of unseen game mechanics you should get used to the regular RR/RC first, but BGR really sound up your ally so you should use it as soon as you get your bearings.

If you are looking for playable realism RR/RC

If you want super-realist/insanely hard realism try the BGR mod.

I pretty much suck at the game(especially battles)

Hey Cheomesh, remember me from ExRM forums? =D

I'd recommend to play 6.1 a bit, just to get used to the new stuff. The map is huge, factions are very different and it is quite different from vanilla M2TW.

Alright, so I installed both parts of SS (no extra options), then 6.1, then both parts of RC/RR. It appears to work!

[OFFTOPIC]Really? I've never met a people who had a working mod. Your one must have some matter itself, otherwise it shouldn't work.

    [/OFFTOPIC]
Seriously, I can say that SS is meant for you despite what you want.

    Being new to SS myself.

I must say I like all the new campaign stuff. The extra factions and content. BRGIV is really interesting although I haven't quite worked out how it all works.

    My only gripe is....

The battles are just too damn quick.
