This is something I was thinking about the other day, although it shoots lore to hell, I think it would be a fun and interesting campaign.
Background setting: - Just a little story really, I thought it would be fun. If you don't want to read it under this is the actual campaign idea.
Some years after the victory over Sauron and the destruction of the ring, King Aragorn orders a campaign to push the evil men, represented in game by Rhun and Harad south past the deserts of Harad.
The joint armies of Dale, Gondor and Rohan, under the command of King Aragorn moves up past the lonely mountain and strike the Rhunic tribes in the north, pushing them down through Khand into Harad lands. Soon after King Eomer of Rohan leads a second army of Rohirrim, towards Pelagir, crossing the river there and linking up in Ithiln with a section of Gondorian forces from Osgilith led by Faramir.
The 2 armies move ever closer to Umbar, Harad, and what's left of the Rhunic tribes, realise that if they do not sail away, or flee south, it is the end. Whilst most of the men flee south toward the jungles, those trapped in Umbar have only 1 choice. Elements of the Harad and Rhunic armies bribe the Corsairs to take them across the seas. As the cities defences fall, and the 2 allied armies approach the seas, they spot a large fleet heading for the horizon. After sending riders to Dol Amroth and Pelegir, a large enough fleet is assembled to carry a task force, made up from the armies of Dale, Rohan and Gondor to give chase to the evil men.
Some days later, the 2 fleets sight each other, as the fleets prepare to attack, a storm kicks up, scattering the fleets and forcing them to sail into a powerful and mysterious ocean current.
As the storm dissipates, the allied fleet is drifting North, it is clear these are strange lands. To the south, the evil fleets disappear over the horizon, the winds keeping the enemies apart.
The evil fleets sale through the Straits of Gibraltar, where sighting land on both sides, they decide to follow the desert coastlines of the Africa. Raiding a merchant ship, they learn that to the east, there are factions with similar cultures, huge creatures similar to Mumakil, known in these lands simply as Elephants. They are told, in the East, to be weary of the men in white armour, The "Templers", and are warned that the eastern lands are full of bloodshed.
The allied fleet on the other hand, sails through the English Channel, and lands at the "White Cliffs". After marching towards this town, with a huge castle, (Dover) They are greeted by an English army under the command of one of the great kings. When it comes clear that these new comers are not here for war, the commanders of the 2 great armies meet.
The men from Middle Earth learn of these strange lands called "Europe" and are given a map of the lands, England, currently at war with France, offer the new comers lands in France in exchange for military assistance. They also learn of the pope, and told to embrace this new religion, and of Rome.
The campaign:
Set on the standard European map, The evil fleets start scattered along Africa's coastline. Whilst the Dale/Rohan/Gondor fleet is moored off the coat of England. Basically giving the player choice to land wherever they please and do whatever they wish. Esstentially, plonking 2 armies, 1, a mixed Harad/Rhun army, without Mumikil, the second, a mixed Gondor/Rohan/Dale army. Once the player takes towns, he or she will find culture buildings, and blacksmiths very important. (to conscript/employ the locals and produce the style of weapons and armour each faction uses in TA:TW for new recruits of course). Harad, when in the right regions, may access elephants.
Playing as the Evil men, will they conquer the middle east, or embrace new friends and allies and target Europe? As the good, will the player turn against England, go to war with France, sail to Rome, or land elsewhere? Can they defeat the evil men as ordered?
The problem:
I have not got the knowledge to make such a mod. However, if people do want to create this project, then after Christmas I will be willing to learn how to do this.
