    Default Insurgents hack US drones

    http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1261...?mod=yhoofront

    well...wow?

This is not good news. Granted, the article title sounds much worse ("Insurgents hack US Drones"), and there's no evidence that this means they would eventually be able to hijack the drones, but it's still worrying.

Why are we lazy that we aren't even encrypting our crap anymore

They don't have that many caves in Iraq do they?

Clearly this $25 software makes Iraq insurgents more powerful than us, luckily they don't actually control a nation so we get to keep our title.

They just used a widely available software to steal communication info from drones. I dont see how that is in any way impressive, since they did not hack nor did they develop the software. I mean anyone could have done it given the software. This does not say anything about the sophistication of the insurgents, but that the drones really do have crappy software protection.

    Sigged, i think.
A new mobile phone tower went up in a town in the USA, and the local newspaper asked a number of people what they thought of it. Some said they noticed their cellphone reception was better. Some said they noticed the tower was affecting their health.

A local administrator was asked to comment. He nodded sagely, and said simply: "Wow. And think about how much more pronounced these effects will be once the tower is actually operational."

Is it that hard to encrypt the data going between the UAV and the controller?
