Or something? Maybe? Please, CA? Doesn't that count as Napoleonic-ish?
what do you think?

Agreed, and allow you to play both Americans AND British.
And add the Peninsular War where you can play as Spain and Portugal, not just France.

It would be brilliant..........but I cant see them going through the hassle of knocking out new maps/artwork for america for such a small, although potentially fun, war as 1812.
I think new units DLC would be more likely. Then again, looking at the warpath campaign as an example where they did make new maps/artwork for something only about 4 people wanted (playing as the indians? stoneage total war), im trying to think of another major war in the period that could be featured. I'd love a US civil war DLC....BUT I'd want to play as the british or french and get involved in it....similar to how warpath was constructed when you think of it. Faction focus will almost certainly be british or american though (biggest customer, home of the studio)....and outside of napolean there isnt any other non-anglo character to base the game around.
Or just make the DLC nothing more than opening up the world/map and dropping in some more factions (probably wont happen due to time in making all the extra faction units for all the other nations.)
Maybe a good thing to make as Addon for NTW as Warpath in ETW?![]()

How about a proper expansion, like Alexander? I'd pay for that.
Not for a dozen units.
i would be shocked if CA does a Napoleon expansion before Empire.
"Egyptians; to the young rebels, and to every one who was killed, bloodied or contributed in the simplest way, what you did has defied any description. you have the world on it's knees gazing at your bravery and determination. you have opened up a new chapter in Egyptian history, one that will be determined by people's love for this country" - an honorable revolutionary,
Having just finished a book by Pierre Burton called “Flames across the borders”. I can tell you there is huge potential for this expansion. Both sides employed natives but mostly the British/Cdn’s.
The same way particular units install fear with Rome and BI/Alexander it would be totally historic for the natives to have the same benefit when fighting against the U.S due to some massacres that the Natives inflicted on them and the apprehension that the American soldier felt when they confronted them.
The best way to approach the units purchasing for such an expansion would be to have native units amalgamated with the British so that when you hit the British flag (for multi-play online) you would see native horseman as well as native infantry (warriors) included in the mix because the Natives from both sides fought along side their allies rarely if ever alone.
The book was a huge eye opener in how things never change when it comes to cronyism and nepotism as well as detailed accounts of the battles. The other bit of information that I found very interesting is how Chief Tecumseh was probably one of the best native Generals, leader who had a true “Alexander” approach to leadership and tactical excellence, his cause was genuine.
The first book of the series is simply called 1812 by the same author which I have not read yet.
The reason I would get the Napolean game is if it came out with a proper expansion for that war. I originally thought like so many others that Empires was going to take us to the Napoleonic era and was sadly mistaken.
3K needs to have an Avatar Campaign!!!
I would like America in an expansion, but with the European map, too. In the 1st NTW, America is sincerly not needed.
warmachine: Didn't CA said some weeks ago in a preview that there will be 6 majors? (so Spain included)

I think there are ALOT MORE wonderful and with big potential parts of the Nappie Wars (Peninsular War, Russia, etc.), but the market is better on Americans..

Perhaps they'll create another Kingdoms type expansion and have the War of 1812, The Peninsular War, and a few others as mini campaigns.
Then again there is nothing stopping CA for releasing several mini campaigns as DLC for Napoleon (or even Empire). As long as they are willing to create them, and others to buy them, there is no limit as they don't have to worry about packaging and CDs/DVDs etc.
Oh ya I'd buy this DLC in a split second if it were to come out.

Great books I own them both. Although I'm sure the first book is called "The Invasion of Canada".

Now, that's a matter of perspective isn't it. As a Canadian, I can't imagine one I could find better![]()
Yes, I think that the War of 1812 - not being included into the vanilla NTW in any way - should be made a DLC.
The War of 1812 as DLC would be a big success in the North American market that would sell well indeed as i am sure it would be popular among many Americans and Canadians.
If were CA it would be a wise decision to take this idea up in mind of a War of 1812 DLC for NTW, as it could be a good theme to use while bloodshed is being spilled there is an old settle in score in America between Britain and the United States!!![]()
I as a Canadian, would love to see a War of 1812 expansion, but, knowing CA's love of ahistorical and anachronistic units, we'd be seeing apache raiders fighting alongside the Americans, and extinct Hurons acting as berserker units for the British/Canadians.
