When you recruit him, he is a general with augustus as his name i believe, it's there for if you want to try and get an augustus as your faction leader, you dont have to make him your faction leader, in fact he wont even be a family member when you recruit him. I believe you need to get a heroic victory with him in command in order to be able to adopt him, then you can set him to faction heir if you want, so that he is the future leader of your faction.
EDIT: Judging by the guy you recruited maybe its not augustus as his name then, but its something along the lines s posted before.
no, i also recruited the caesar 3 times and it never says augustus. Its the guy in rome with 3 turn recruitment right?

Ive only ever got to the stage to recruit him once, and that was a long time ago, so i cant really remember.
does it trigger an event of some sort in the provincial campaign?
I dont think it triggers anything, he is just a character you can use like you would any other family member.
That unit is strictly a 'role playing' unit. By recruiting him, you are recruiting the future Emperor.

what i did is recruit one, put him at command of 3 praetorian cavalry units, and get a heroic victory vs the rebels that spammed around italy that turn. tachán, he's faction heir. and, for your information, the actual faction leader, his adoptive father, has evolved to Augustus Augustus name in 3 turns.
the heir is Augustus Silvanus, a new dinasty!![]()
