    Default Papal States

    Hello

    Is there some way to decrease the aggressiveness of The Papal States faction`?I play on hard and in every game they try take over the world and if someone resist they being excommunicated.So they are nearly in Norway in my game.I want them to sit quiet in Rome and focus on the religion and crusades.So wich file should i edit?

    Agreed.
    Democracy is beautiful in theory; in practice it is a fallacy.

    Maybe there still is a passive AI, in that case editing descr_strat.txt might do (no sure though). If there isn't any, they you'll have to re-implent the passive AI, but maybe you can convince someone who understands AI to do that for you.

    Yes if you don't ally with the pope, he can well decide to attack you, should you be his neighbour. Maybe this could be tuned down a little and the pope only defend or counter-attack if attacked.

    If PB read this, maybe he can give us a clue; because i presume you play SS RR RC ? (in SS6.1 never noticed the pope attacking any other faction)

    I play SS6.2.No,in SS6.1 they didn't do a thing but neither did the other factions.Hre was the powerfullest nation in my campaign,then the pope call an crusade on frankfurt,about 7 turns after that i looked at the map and hre had only a few provinces left.Then The Papal States had whole Italy nad nearly whole germany,that is'nt realistic.

    Well pretty much every faction is supposed to conquer large extentions of land that they never did conquer in history , so I'm not too worried about realism in borders in this game

    Pope seems very passive in new RC/RR compilation.
    only once saw him take Ancona.
    and once set off on crusade by ship - only to return to base next turn.

    might be an idea to give HRE a passive CAI, once it has captured all bordering rebel regions.
    might stop it getting ex-commed so quickly.

    CAI= Campaign AI
    Passive= It won't do anything except defending (and striking back, of course )
