    Default Qui Bono?

Just one small phrase (Latin for "To whose benefit?") seems to have ruffled some feathers,

    http://www.ukip.org/content/latest-n...n-against-ukip
European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso today urged the head of the Inter-governmental Panel on Climate Change, Rajenda Pachouri, to sue UKIP MEP Paul Nuttall for raising questions over Pachouri's financial links to Tata Steel of India.

Tata, the owners of Corus, stand to benefit from the Carbon Credits scheme which has been pushed by the IPCC. It is expected that the closure of the Corus plant on Teeside will bring windfall benefits of almost $1bn by selling the defunct plant's carbon credits.

Mr Nuttall had simply asked "qui bono?" when raising wider questions about the use of British taxpayers money to export British jobs in the steel industry.

In his speech, he said, "The real gain to Corus/Tata from stopping production on Teeside is the saving it will make on its carbon allowances, allocated by the EU and worth up to £600m over the next three years.

"Surprise, surprise, the head of the IPCC, Rajendra Pachouri, is the head of the Tata Foundation, so one must ask 'qui bono', as Tata of India owns Corus."

In response, President Barroso urged Mr Pachouri to take Mr Nuttall to court, before admitting that the closure of the Corus plant was a direct consequence of EU legislation.

What's more, and I hadn't actually noticed this until this issue came up, is that Rajenda Pachouri, the Chairman of the Inter-governmental Panel on Climate Change is not even a Climate Scientist.

In fact, he's not even a scientist at all!! He has a Ph.D in Industrial Engineering and Economics. Now we see the links with Tata......

Ok, So this is just one case right?

    Well no,

Here is Nick Griffin MEP for the BNP with Chris Davies MEP of the Lib Dems, a leading campaigner on Wind Farms and Carbon Capture. It's relatively long but the main point is after about 6:30.

Yes that's right, the guy has commercial interests in Wind Farms and Carbon Capture technologies!

So one has to ask, If both the Chair of the hugely influential IPCC panel who are prominent figures in deciding Climate policy as well as Politicians and Lobbyists seem to have a vested financial interest, is there more to the deals in places like Copenhagen than meets the eye?

Ah yes, I saw that not long ago. Barroso's reaction is interesting, to say the least. Snouts in the trough, the lot of them; they're looking after their own selfish interests, but I should think that's fairly obvious by now.

To be governed is to be watched, inspected, directed, numbered, regulated, enrolled, indoctrinated, controlled, checked, estimated, valued, censured, and commanded, by creatures who have neither the right, wisdom, nor virtue to do so. To be governed is to be at every operation, at every transaction noted, registered, taxed, measured, numbered, assessed, licensed, admonished, reformed, corrected, and punished. It is, under pretext of public utility, and in the name of the general interest, to be placed under contribution, drilled, fleeced, exploited, monopolized, extorted, and robbed; then, at the slightest resistance, to be repressed, fined, vilified, harassed, abused, disarmed, choked, imprisoned, judged, condemned, shot, deported, sacrificed, sold, and betrayed; and to crown all, mocked, ridiculed, derided, outraged, and dishonored. -Pierre-Joseph Proudhon

Well carbon credits and especially offsets are a bit silly. There are some eastern european countries that had their economy crash in the 1990's when they had very dirty economies with lots of their energy based on coal that stand to benefit billions of dollars simply because of technical carbon credits that occured because all these plants shut down, and not because of any enviromental goodwill. A lot of companies will just buy those "offsets" cheaply and continue polluting. Sure they will run out at some point, but until then there is going to be no real improvement.
