Insane FPS drops when a character is selected

So yeah, when i'm in the "map mode" (not in battle) my framerate tend to drop to like 7 (not constant, it goes up and down) but its only when i have someone seleceted. Like an army or something.

I have tried all graphic settings, nothing does any difference...

and it only happens in this mod, AFAIK, atleast i havent ever experienced it before.

and yes im using the latest version of everything (1,5 Kingdoms and 4,2 KGCM)


Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.


EDIT: oh yeah and btw, it's apparently worst when i have a diplomatic selected (huge green 'field'), and around Denmark and france.. Maybe its the tress? Well i have no idea, its all very weird.

This is a problem due to the big-map and its very common in many other mods which use hi-res ground textures/models, with greater maps & also many factions. The only thing i can suggest you is to deselect units whilst scrolling if this is possible, then to turn of shadows on the stratmap and/or to lower your stratmap-resolution.

It happens to me as well. I navigate using my map - you should too, watching slide-shows is bad for your eyes

@ YourKaiser and LemuelG: Did you guys try turning off campaign map shadows? That usually helps a lot.

a small suggest
you better not build any watch tower because it also make you mad with your FPS

I can stand with small lag when navigate map even I choosing a unit but it is really a big kick in my ass when I build many watch tower
result is when I view my land it is lag really lag

Also the notifications you get at the beginning of a turn, if not cleared (right click) will cause slowdowns on the map too.

Hmm, it seems to have went away a bit.. Actually constructing watchtowers to make everything more visible kinda helps on the issue.. Its weird

in the beginning when your trading not developed your map won't lag much
after some turn when the road full with caravan you will see that build watch tower is suicide

At this point i want to mention that turning the fog-of-war off, will certainly aggravate much this slowdown issue. So guys, don't cheat ...
You should take this stratmap-scrolling-slowdown, like an anti-cheat feature from CA!

Other solutions we've already suggested here ...

- deselect units whilst scrolling if this is possible
- turning off stratmap shadows
- lower your stratmap resolution
and last but not least ...
- turning fog-of-war on

You can change your resolution for the strat map (and battles seperately) in the video options at the main menu just click the advanced options .

As already mentioned using the mini map if you suffer lag on scrolling mayy be your best option just click on the little map in the bottom left to have the screen move to where you want it instantly no lag.
