    Default CAN'T RUN RTR

    Hello all
Im new on this, and I can't speak english well too.
I have a problem with RTR. When I double click the icon (executable file) it doesn't do anything, nothing happend. I have Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit, Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHz, 4Gb RAM.
Do I need a patch to run it on Vista 64-bit ?
When I double click the icon, on the task manager appear something and then desappear (look the pic).
    Please help me.

First of all, the installer of the regular version(non modswitch) of RTRPE is inside a rar archive. Have you decompressed it first? You need winrar for that.

Well...I had installed this game on Windows XP and work great. I applied the same instalation procedure to my PC (laptop) and does not work. I think is Vista or 64-bit. (I dont have any rar in my folder)

Maybe there`s some permission issue related to running the installer. Have a look through this thread and see if you find anything useful or not:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Activision\Rome - Total War\RomeTW.exe (I think this is what you are asking for). Remember I turn the UAC off. Thanks, I appreciate your help and time.

Is that where you have the game installed? Newer versions of the game install by default in a The Creative Assembly folder instead of the Activision which is the default location for RTRPE.
Also, check this about installing games in vista:

Is the mod in its own folder? Inside the RTW Folder

    My shortcut is like this "C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\RomeTW-BI.exe" -show_err -mod:RTRPE -nm

If you have the modfoldered version the RTRPE needs to be the same as the folder containing the mod.

It is possible you have installed the BI version and are using the RTW shortcut.

I was reading some sites on internet and the process called "~e5.0001" that appear in the task manager when I double clik the exe file, its seems to be a virus or a spyware that block some exe files. Do you know something about that? And if so...plz tell me the solution. I have BitDefender Total Security 2010 + StopZilla 5.0 + Malwarebyte Antimalware and they do not detect anything. Plz look at the image in the window #1

I did a quick search as well and it might be something to do with copy protection. (Not necessarily RTW)
Some one recommended a program called ATF Cleaner.

    Do you have Barbarian Invasion?
I think RTRPE has features which are not in RTW and that could be why it wont start. My shortcut uses the BI.exe

ATF Cleaner does not work. I got the same. I will try installing BI.exe, but I did not install BI.exe on Windows XP and work great. I will tell you. Thanks

I can only tell you that there seem to be plenty of forums reporting the same issue as you have.
Do a google search for " ~e5.0001 *32 " and see what solutions other people have tried.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

I give up. I look for every forum that refers to that "~e5.0001". It's seems to be something with Daemon Tools protection or something. None of the forum gave me a solution. There is a lot of people with this problem but the post is dated 2005 and 2006, so its very old; then, I dont think there is a solution for this problem

SOLUTION. Its seem that Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120% write a protection that don't let to play the game. So I used another software to install the RTR-PE. I used PowerIso and Im playing now. So I had to uninstall both programs. I appreciate your time and patience Clearchus and florin80. Thank you very much. See you.
