    Default Admin & Military Minded

Got a quick question about Administratively Minded and Militarily Minded.

If I have an Administratively Minded character, will other Education buildings (like libraries or universities) help with traits? Or is just a school sufficient?
And as far as Militarily Minded characters go, will just placing them in a castle work, or do they only gain traits from military action? And do education buildings benefit them as well?

The better the buildings, the more (and faster) he'll pick up. Admins are faster at "yourculture"Education, military at Military Education.

I've noticed there are three levels of education for admin minded guys: basic education, standard education, and Bachelor of Arts. Building more advanced schools gives you a pretty good chance of a general developing Bachelor of Arts. They are also more likely to pick this up when still young and possess the freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior traits.

That said I have had military minded generals and admin minded guys older than 16 pick up Bachelor of Arts simply by staying in a settlement with a university for a few turns. Also I sometimes get military minded guys "basic military education" just by staying in a castle for a while. In order to get standard military education, I need to have them win some heroic victories usually. I have yet to have a general get above standard military education (if there is such a trait).

When the General is at a Citadel while not being governor, between his "Freshman" and "Graduate" traits, he will develop Advanced Military Education, i am pretty sure of that

Yes of course their age will affect the progress. But universities and higher also give the older guys a change of getting education

Military Education can be gained by advanced barracks. And yes there is a higher level: all Education has a third level.

Yes I said that in the first sentence of my second paragraph.

I generally play early campaigns for about 75 turns or so so I never noticed what could cause advanced military education. Thanks for clarifying this though!

Look for the 'Scholar' trait also. Only generals with this trait can continue to gain Admin levels after they are 'graduate'. If a general has reached the 2nd level of the admin education skill before becoming a 'graduate' and has the Scholar trait, park him in a city that has both a library and a university until he gains the 3rd level of the skill (75% chance per turn of +1 to threshold, need to get from 3 to 10 to go from 2nd to 3rd level of the trait).

As noted above, having a library and/or university will advance the admin education trait faster than just a school for a freshman - senior (first 4 turns of a family member's career).

Also note that generals that are 'military minded' can gain additional trait levels after graduation through combat. The lower the odds and greater the victory, the higher the chance of gaining skill.

Generals that are 'military minded' can also gain military education by being governor when certain buildings are completed (city barracks, siege works, foundries, castle barracks/stables/ranges/siege/foundries). Some, not all, of these require being 'military minded'.

Generals can gain military education even if not 'military minded' by being a city governor when barracks are completed or simply by ending turn at sea.

Never fought many battles with one general? I often forget this, my generals are usually tied to their homes to keep peace. Only a few one can fight battles, but I need them to stabilise my control of my new conquests

Yep, and for Pagan factions you want to leave them out in the wild fighting battles, there is a few threads out there with all the details.
