    Default Ode to cats

I have noticed many people have difficulties facing Mordor at bridges.

I have also noticed how underrated cats are -recently an expert told me I do not know how to exploit AI, when I mentioned the word cats.

In this example we will stomp a 10k full stack of Mordor army with an army of 3 Militias and 1 FT, but also 4 cats on a river cross at VH on normal size.

Notice how many casulaties cats scored...

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The first units start to route...

40% down and no infantry engagement yet.

    HV was never so easy...

... and the final ode to cats...

400 kills each on normal size, which is easily a 600 on huge size; 600 each.

As for the 110 men toll, I think most can cope with this.

The only way to describe this. I don΄t like these tactics though as they hurt, IMHO, the immersion.

i so entered here waiting for a completly diferent thread.

but i got to agree with muffer: those kind of tactics has never been of my likings since all they do is to exploit the game/AI΄s limitations. plus is not nearly as manly as a normal victory with Gondor should be.

edit: i hate that cat so much...

Ah, Myshkin, I think you just en evil person.

Hihi, no to be honest, the nice caties work for sure, and better than ballista and more easy to fire since their boulders fly over your ow troop's heads.

BUT I CAN'T JUST MORALY STAND ONE OF THESE FIRE ROCKS CRASHING INTO MY BELOVED SOLDIERS!!
AND THEY DIE! AND THEY BURN! AND THEY CRY FOR HELP, AND I KNOW I COMMANDED THE CATAPULTS TO FIRE. AHH! DON'T REMIND ME OF THAT!! (little post-TATW-psychosis)

Hey, where do you suddenly all come from? It's 10 past ten, so it's TATW time or WHAT??

I use that tactic always when possible. Bridges are so effective deathtraps it feels almost cheating to just sit there waiting with few catapults ready to rain fire and death down upon the enemy. Enemies could as well go bash their heads against nearest wall.

This by the way works almost as well with archers. When enemies are squeezed in narrow bridge or crossover almost every shot is a kill.
We have developed speed but we have shut ourselves in: machinery that gives abundance has left us in want. Our knowledge has made us cynical, our cleverness hard and unkind. We think too much and feel too little: More than machinery we need humanity; More than cleverness we need kindness and gentleness. Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost.

The problem is, of course, having the necessary cats there at the right time...

Ah... trying to rush for these babies well before heavy cavarly will only make the game easier.

You got to place them right behind your army to avoid friendly fire.

So, it never happes to you, heh?? (doubtfull voice)

Not even on bridges and larger stacks? Remember too late to disable free fire, when you start chasing routers? (and so on and so forth)

In my humble experience, low level cats are evil suckers, but as soon as you had one or two heavy battles, where they could score, they reach silver chevron and really be killers. I think in med2, it was then often time to switch to the "booom!"-fraction of artillery, but in 3rdAge, there is no booom, so cats certainly rule.
    Play mordor!!

No, they seldom shoot my own troops, because I place them right behind my main line of the army. What is more likely though is to shoot themselves -some kind of accident not sure how to describe it.

Whateverer it is if something kills 2000 enemy troops and 20 friendly, I use it.

The cats shown above had 0xp, so cats are in general mean pets.

yesterday I learned how badass cats were against Olog Hai I lost two battles against Mordor but killed their Olog Hai and most of the Orc horde so I ended pushing them back across the Osgiliath bridge because I mauled them badly sat there with five units of catapults and the rest mostly Rohirrim cavalry..... We raped them a new one.

He probably means Battle Councillor, the guy who pops out in the top left corner of your screen to give you some "wise" tips like you can use flaming arrows, cavalry is good at charging and such. I don't know why, but I keep it on too. It may be just to make sure if he someday finally says something useful I don't miss it. (it has not happened in all these years I have been playing M2TW, but there just might be something I have always missed before)

Before I used to think that he was just saying the same things over and over, but then he told me that by pressing ALT with ranged units, they use their second weapons. I never knew that before and after that I always keep it on!
