Icon4 OFFICIAL: DMUC INSTALLATION and TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION

    DMUC Installation:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Once you have the compressed file downloaded, Open it with 7-Zip or WinRAR and you should see this:
(text in red has been added of course)

(if you don't see the picture above, click HERE)

Now, extract the DMUC Install Files folder to temp location. After extraction has completed, browse to the DMUC Setup folder, you should have the following: DMUC_Setup.exe, and a DMUC_Setup_Files folder. Both items MUST be present!

(if you don't see the picture above, click HERE)

Run the file called DMUC_Setup.exe to begin the installation process.

During installation, you will be asked to confirm the path to the empire total war folder:

This MUST match you actual Empire Total War Folder path perfectly!

(if you don't see the picture above, click HERE)

    By Default this would be:
    C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\empire total war

If you have installed Steam/ETW to another location, then the exact path to the Empire Total War folder must be entered.

After the DMUC Installer completes, you should be able to start the DMUC launcher and begin a game. If you have issues, please continue to read.

DMUC INSTALL ORDER WITH LINKS TO FILES:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    1. - Make sure you have verified install of ETW, updated to v1.5.
    2. - Install the DMUC Edition Mod. (REQUIRED) > DOWNLOAD LINK <
    3. - Install any DMUC Upgrades. (REQUIRED, if available) > DOWNLOAD LINK <

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

In the main Empire Total War Folder you should see:

If it does not, then the DMUC is not installed properly!

(if you don't see the picture above, click HERE)

The Empire Total War\data folder should look like this:

If it does not, then the DMUC is not installed properly!

PLEASE NOTE: THE DMUC_BRIT.pack was eliminated in DMUC v4.95.1 so it will NOT be present in the newer versions of DMUC

(if you don't see the picture above, click HERE)

The Empire Total War\data\campaigns Sub folder in the picture below should have these items:

If it does not, then the DMUC is not installed properly!

(if you don't see the picture above, click HERE)

The Empire Total War\data\DMUC sub folder in the picture below should have these items:

If it does not, then the DMUC is not installed properly!

(if you don't see the picture above, click HERE)

Now we need to check to make sure the DMUC user Script Files are properly installed.

    Depending on your Operation sytem, the path to the script files will be different;

    VISTA and Windows 7:
    C:\Users\(Your User Name Here)\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Empire\scripts

    XP:
    C:\Documents and Settings\(Your User Name Here)\Application Data\The Creative Assembly\Empire\scripts

In the Empire\scripts folder, after installation and with the DMUC Launcher CLOSED, you should see this:

If it does not, then the DMUC is not installed properly!

The Empire\scripts\DMUC sub folderin the picture below should have these items:

If it does not, then the DMUC is not installed properly!

Every folder above, except USER_BACKUP and MP should have two files in each: BACKUP.empire_script and user.empire_script.

USER_BACKUP should be empty and MP will only have the user.empire_script file.

(if you don't see the picture above, click HERE)

    The DMUC QUESTIONS & ANSWERS:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Question One: Do I need anything else to play this mod?

Answer One: No, everything you need is in the DMUC mod although I may have patches and/or updates as time passes.

Question Two: Can I add more mods to Darthmod Ultimate Commander?

Answer Two: Yes, The DMUC Launcher has a custom edit feature that allows you to modify the DMUC custom user script to add in your own favorite mods. Please be advised however that there are a lot of mods built in so I can not guarantee every mod out there will work with DMUC. Most should but there may be some that won't. I will try our best to answer questions to help you add mods but at the end of the day I only directly support what is in the DMUC mod.

Question Three: Do I have to use the DMUC Launcher or can I use Mod Manager?

Answer Three: I support the DMUC Launcher. I do not support Mod Manager. For the best results and best compatiblity, the DMUC Launcher is recommended. For those who insist on using Mod Manager for DMUC, PLEASE NOTE: You CAN NOT use the DMUC Launcher and Mod Manager as the SAME TIME!!! Each tries to use it's own user script file. One will try to overwrite the other and WILL cause problems, so DON'T DO IT! If you really must use Mod Manager, the you will have to forgo using the DMUC Launcher. This may also cause some DMUC features to not work properly.

    KNOWN ISSUES:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Due the various BAI Tweaks by Darth Vader, you will notice that the classes of some units have been changed, this was unavoidable.

The DMUC includes custom Menu Movies for the Ultimate Campaign, RTI and Warpath play modes. However these movies will not appear if you have a large number of extra mod pack files in the data folder. The only options are to either remove some other the extra mod files or simply forgo seeing the DMUC Movies (which is too bad, they are cool)

    More troubleshooting topics to come...

Icon4 OFFICIAL: A word about the DMUC and Security Software

    -------------------------------------------------------------
    Issue Information #1:
    -------------------------------------------------------------

A word about the DMUC Launcher, Windows Security and 3rd Party Security Software

I have several people reports issues such as Drum and Fife Music not changing and one or two reports of the artillery mods not showing up in game when selected.

I have tested these in the latest version and they are working properly for me.

Now I'd just like to mention that the DMUC uses .bat script files to make most changes when selected by the user (you) via the DMUC Launcher.

However, I know that some security software suites (like ZoneAlarm, for example) have security features that will block .bat files from running.

If you have security software that blocks these scripts, it will cause the selected option to not work because the change was blocked by the security software.

Also the DMUC MUST BE RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR, especially in Windows Vista or Windows 7 (it's best to be an admin in XP too)

Further note, In Windows Vista and in Windows 7, C:\Program Files is now "protected" by the OS.

I have seen in other gaming forum were it has been suggested that you do not install games to C:\Program Files since the "protection" interfers with changing game options, mods, ect...

This would affect the DMUC Launcher functionality, especially if you not running the DMUC Launcher as an administrator.

Some suggest to install games to something like C:\Games, which would not be "protected" by Windows and allows game changes without Windows protection interfering.

I hope this helps some of those experincing such issues.

    -------------------------------------------------------------
    Issue Information #2:
    -------------------------------------------------------------

HOW TO FIX MANY DMUC GAME START ISSUES:

From the DMUC Launcher Menu go to the Diagnostic Option Menu.

Click the ENABLE ADV DIAG OPTIONS button and the click the RESET USER SCRIPT FILES button.

You will be prompted to reset the DMUC User Scripts, press any key to complete the reset process. then try starting the mod again.

See this thread for more information on the Diagnostic Options:

    Issue Information #3:
    -------------------------------------------------------------

If, when installing DMUC, you get this error:
This file contains invalid error. (error 21FC) --or something similar--

This means the download is corrupt! PERIOD! and You MUST download the installer AGAIN!

I'm really really REALLY TIRED of having people ask this same question over and over AGAIN and AGAIN.

Yes it totally sucks to have a corrupted download but I can not do anymore other than what has already been done and that is to have made several mirrors available, we even have FTP hosting (with resume support).

So PLEASE STOP ASKING ME TO HELP WITH THIS ERROR! ALL I AM GOING TO DO IS REFER YOU TO THIS LINK or TELL YOU TO DOWNLOAD THE DMUC AGAIN!

Sorry if this comes off as a bit rude but seriously no one reads the previous posts and keeps asking the same thing over and over so it time to put a stop to it.

    Hi hip63,

nice work you did very eyecandy job.

Now we need to check to make sure the DMUC user Script Files are properly installed.
    Depending on your Operation system, the path to the script files will be different;

    VISTA and Windows 7:
    C:\Users\(Your User Name Here)\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Empire\scripts

    Question about script file:

When this is the official install instruction how can it be that in your screenshot your user.empire_script.txt is located in

    VISTA and Windows 7:
    C:\Users\(Your User Name Here)\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Empire\scripts
    \DMUC

instead of the mentioned path above ?

The DMUC sub folder is where the DMUC user script is STORED when not in use. When you start the DMUC Launcher and choose, for example, the Grand Campaign, the DMUC Launcher will MOVE the DMUC user script file from the DMUC subfolder to the script folder. When you exit the Grand Campaign Menu, the DMUC Launcher MOVES the user script BACK into STORAGE.

    Hope that helps.

All seems correct however I am missing the ttttt.pack, is that possibly a cause? I am able to load DMUC after doing your Diag fix where I got the 9999 error but now all the town, farms etc on the campaign map are disappeared even though I can interact with them...the graphic is simply gone. I was getting the "Empire has stopped working" error when I tried to load in but reinstall of ETW and DMUC fixed that. Now I can't play cause I can't see the damn towns! This mod looks awesome and I'm itching to play it.

Have you installed the latest Nvidea Graphic driver - as that cause the problem - I had the same - so I converted back to my previous driver.

Well I got it working...all I had to do was upgrade to windows 7! I have to agree about the Drum and Fife however...while playing Prussia I am getting some kinda praise Ala, muslim type music. That aside I'm wondering if this CTD issue is common to Vista users and if so what could be the conflict?

    Hi hip ! I don't know what i had done wrong ...

    I paid attention to every step for installing normal DM and also DMUC;

I put the darthmod.pack in data, put in campaign/main the new startpos.esf,
and i took the pre-formed .txt of darth from the zip archive ...

And when I start Empire - either my Takbar gets white, a moment after that nothing ... and that's it; normal Desktop in front of me ...
OR what happend today all the time i tried it: Empire starts, and after a few second of the first screen : CTD ... appcrash ...

The installer of DMUC also doe not help ... same kind of CTD when startup ...

I mean, i installed and reinstalled the older versions of darthmod, maybe 10 or 15 times (because of submodding too much ... )
I really know what few steps have t obee done, but i can simply not imagine whats going on ...
(There are one or two guys here, which have the same problem ...)
--- Plaese can you give me any advice, what it could be, that produces the error ?

(I have the new Nvidia driver tried out, now using an ol 182.xx and it also does noit work, while Vanilla and other mods work fine )

    - And anyway: What you have done this mod is really nice work, i like the idea of integrating many mods to
create a major mod with that awsome options to choose from

Hi Hip! I think I discovered the problem with the CTD.... I didn't buy the DLC from steam, and I installed the patch with the multiplayer beta and etc. However, I don't have the patch3.pack and I can't get this from steam, it says my data folder has all the archives.... I'm getting crazy!!! AHH! XD I want to play this DMUC!!

So, I would like to ask, someone could upload this archive? I think this is the solution for the CTD that others are reporting. Please, if someone could do that... I would be very pleased....

Thank your for this wonderfull work! Cheers!

Yes... I also have the special forces edition. I compared my data folder with Hip's data folder and the only archive I don't have (beside the tttt.pack, and that was a test archive) is the patch3.pack. I tried to diagnostic my files with steam... but nothing.. steam is always a headache for me... So, maybe this is the solution for the problem, because I reinstalled 2 times the Empire with DMUC, and nothing, everytime I tried to launch the GC or RTI with the DMUC launcher... CTD.

Ah, another important thing. I tried to enter in the game using only the darth mod lite (uninstalling the Darth Mod Ultimate Edition) and then... CTD. With Darth Mod Comander Edition, the same thing... CTD. However, without darth mod, or with previus versions of DMUC, the game started fine. I think there is some adjustments from darth that affect the patch3.pack file.

    Thanks for your time.

Darthmod is great but i've got a few minor problems. I selected all the drum and fife options to work except in game every nation has the same drum and fife music. I think its one of those german ones. Is this my problem or is this a bug. This and the fact that cavalry units sometimes call themselves infantry when you click on them. But apart from those minor issues the mod is great.
    Thanks hip

I think I missplaced my last post:

In first place a huge CONGRATULATIONS!! for this amazing mod. You completely overhauled the experience of playing Empire.

Now let's get to the point. I've started a new campaing as Spain after installing, and at the begining I could see the custom model for the marines in naval battles ( in this case is the model of
Infanteria de Marina, from the Ornamentum pack). After a few turns it returned to the vanilla model. Is this some kind of bug with the Naval Mod?? (which is activated all the time), or maybe it returns to the vanilla after some tecnology is investigated??

Appart from that, the artillery x2 option doesn't work for me. Artillery units always show in battle as x1 (4 cannons per unit).

    My settings:
    Spain H/H
grenades on, Naval mod on, DMUC skins on, formations on, alt GB units off, smoke and blood on, artillery x 2, no forts off.

Yes probably the patch3.pack causes the CTD - I also don't have this in my data folder !
I also would thank you -Hip for an upload of that .pack :-)

(I wished to say "nice job", but thirst let me have a look at it, I really don't touched Empire or Darth since 2.8 ...
