4) Take screenshots of your empire every 5 -10 years, even if nothing seems wrong.

Playing the 0 turn campaign
Ask me which faction I was you to test
How would you normally play a mod foldered game using Steam?
Presumably it's just about having a set of shortcuts with the right targets in...
1) Go into your RS2 Beta folder and select the .exe file you will be using (RTW.exe, BI.exe or Alex.exe).
2) Right click and select "Create Shortcut"
3) Right click the shorcut you've just created and select "Properties"
4) Go to the "Target" line - it will look something like: "C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\RS2 BETA\RomeTW.exe" or wherever you've put your BETA folder
5) Add these after the quotes: -mod: then the name of whichever modfolder you want to use) -show_err -movie_cam -nm e.g. -mod: Play_Rome -show_err -movie_cam -nm
That should work fine. You will then need to manually copy across the relevant DMB and desc_character.txt files from their folders within the IMPORTANT STUFF folder if you want to change these.....If you're want sprites at a further distance, you'll need to go into /data/_IMPORTANT_STUFF/High_res_DMB/ then copy the descr_model_battle.txt files from /default into the main /data folder of your Beta and (assuming you want to play as Rome) from the /roman folder into /Play_Rome/data.
Important- for steam launcher
If you started your campaign through the game engine (You started RS2 clicked single player, imperial campaign) You are not testing the correct thing. You need to type in the specific modfolder of the faction you are testing on steam's "set launch options" panel.
When you start the mod it should say "Play (yourfactionhere) campaign"
It should NOT say "Play single player"
Example:
Instead of just: "-mod -nm -show_err"
You need: "-mod:Your_Faction -nm -show_err"
Tips
1) Post screenshots of your campaign here regularly - my suggestion would be every 5-10 years. Ideally this would include a close up or two of your area, plus the finance graph and the end of turn finances summary
2) A short description of progress every 5-10 turns, battles played (ideally with a screenshot of the results of particularly important ones), and the overall feel of the campaign (bored? scared witless? just right?)
3) Have a look at the post your empires thread to see some examples of good reporting (e.g. http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...32#post7511432) or Chernish's Macedonian campaign thread...http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=358951
