Default Steel: "Delay, Stall, Slow Down"

    http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2009/12...in;contentBody

Little bit old but thought it was interesting.

    December 10, 2009 12:56 PM
A new strategy memo from Republican party leader Michael Steele urges Republicans to do everything in their power to block the Democrats' health care bill from moving forward in the Senate.

"I urge everyone to spend every bit of capital and energy you have to stop this health care reform," Republican National Committee Chair Michael Steele wrote in the memo, obtained by CBS News. "The Democrats have accused us of trying to delay, stall, slow down and stop this bill. They are right. We do want to delay, stall, slow down and ultimately stop them from experimenting on our nation's health care. And guess what, so do a majority of Americans."

In fact, Steele's last point may be up for debate. A CBS News/ New York Times poll released last night shows that while most Americans are skeptical of the impact the Democrats' overall health care package will have, 60 percent of Americans still support the Democrats' proposal for a government-run health insurance option, or "public option."
What dream world does he live in to think that majority of Americans dont want health care reform. We may be skeptical of a lot of the bills being passed but no one is opposed to health care reform except the HMOs and fat politicians who get rich from them.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
One thing is certain, however: There is a segment of the conservative base that thinks the Republican party has not done enough to block health care reform.
    Havnt done enough yet?
"It's clear that the Senate Republican leadership doesn't know how to deal with this in the health care fight," conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh recently said on his show. "I'm not a parliamentary expert. But I know a disaster when I see it. And I know that it's gotta be stopped, and whatever parliamentary steps are available to people who do know what they are should have been taken, every blocking tactic they had at this."

Added Limbaugh, "They act like this is just another day at the office. They don't have faith in our principles. They don't have the will or energy to go on offense. I'm talking about the Republican leadership, wherever you find it. And they're incapable of explaining our philosophy or our purpose."

Other conservative groups, like the Gun Owners of America, have expressed similar sentiments, the Hill newspaper reports. In an e-mail sent to its members in Kentucky, the group said Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has helped Democrats advance "ObamaCare legislation," according to the Hill.

Along with its new health care memo, the RNC has made other attempts to appease its base. Some party members suggested a "purity test" for Republicans to follow -- a resolution of 10 principles that must be adhered to, such as support for the Defense of Marriage Act and opposition to President Obama's health care plan.

While the energized conservative base could prove to be a boon to Republicans, appealing to only the most conservative voters also has its risks, the Washington Post writes.

He lives in a dream world of getting campaign funds from a crapton of Big Pharma and Health Insurance companies.

Let's think the unthinkable, let's do the undoable. Let us prepare to grapple with the ineffable itself, and see if we may not eff it after all.

Not necessarily, just against Obama's. And all for different reasons.

Yes yes, let's all stick our heads up our ass and understand that the democrats maintain a supermajority, control the whitehouse and yet the Republicans can still stall...
Sure I've been called a xenophobe, but the truth is Im not. I honestly feel that America is the best country and all other countries aren't as good. That used to be called patriotism.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Republicans can't do anything to stop this takeover from going through.

Lobbyists are probably better at getting this pushed through than the politicians themselves half the time. That's why its such a popular enterprise for former politicians.

Already blaming the democrats incompetence on the republicans? Who controls the 3 branches of government? Who's bill puts big pharma and insurance companies in bed with government? I find this whining finger pointing pathetic and down right hypocritical.

The op and the article quoted is misleading. First off latest CNN poll shows public option support at 53 for 46% against, not a great margin there.

Secondly Steele said "They are right. We do want to delay, stall, slow down and ultimately stop them from experimenting on our nation's health care. And guess what, so do a majority of Americans.""

He made no mention of the public option and poll numbers on the bill making the rounds in senate?
36% support 61% against...so Steele is in fact right and for some reason the article brings up something that isnt even IN the bill. Perhaps if it was then support of it would be higher then it is...thats called irony ontop of shoddy reporting. The kicker of it all? Only 22% of americans believe the bill being pushed thru senate will help them in anyway. Delay, stall, slow down sounds about right considering NO ONE wants this bill.

Nope this is why it works since majority of people dont want it and republicans can block it til eventually we either get a decent bill or we dont get anything. Getting a bad solution to a problem is worse then getting no solution since it will just make it worse. Democracy working as intended.

If it's got the average margin of error at 3% then it's a guaranteed lead. It's not a big lead, but it's not a statistical tie either.

Wasnt saying otherwise just big difference between 60% and 53% and doesnt change the fact the "public option" isnt in this bill and this particular bill has very, very little support among people.

Way of the world even with climate change issue it will be the case. Even if you believe every word of research done nothing will be done at the gathering that will address the problem other then somehow making people pay more for something but people will pat themselves on back and go good job.

But we are opposed to the "reform" the democrats are trying to pass.
