    I suspect it can be done, but one thing I know you can do is script the game to spawn an army of rienforcements when you siege
    basically (you have sieged Granada and all of the christian Mercenaries in the region have heard of your assault in christendoms name and have allied themselves in support of this most holy of causes) ???

    simply becuase the only really significant factor to dessertion is your army gets depleted but with my suggestion that becomes irrelevant?! that is modding! but I do not know if it is possible I think dessertion is hardcoded.................so you think like a modder! how can I achieve my goal of having an adequate militia when I siege?...............

    I think I understand what megalink is trying to figure out, as I witnessed an army, led by a general, with 18 mercenary units with decent experience that were fully experienced and had upgraded weapons, that rebelled. I believe the issue, when it comes to Crusading armies that are separated from a Crusading general, is that they will disband for a lack of leadership. Rebellion seems to be random (perhaps hardcoded) for armies lacking generals outside of the crusades, and completely dependant on the general's loyalty rating when the army does have a general. The only way to prevent a general from rebelling is to give the general a better loyalty rating, unless there is something hidden in the /data/ folder, I think /data/descr_campaign_db.xml has some stuff on revolts through excommunication, new king, etc.

    It can be influenced also in the descr_Strat.txt

    That's for cities.

    Experience tells me that desertion has to do with a couple of factors:
    - loyalty of the general
    - authority of the leader
    - distance from capital

    Never found anything in the XML and TXT files about desertion calculation.

    @megalink

    No need to despair that quickly. It is all part of the simulation. Generations of players have been upset with it, but then that is what life i sabout, isn't it?
    You can't expect an unloyal general to stay with an army age away from home, ruled by an incompetent rules, can you?
    Else you might have to switch to arcade agmes.

    I'm doubtful that the Loyalty attribute works as intended. Ever since BI I've noticed far more High Loyalty than Low Loyalty generals spontaneously rebel...

    its not only during the crusades im tired of when im sending reinforcements from a fortress to a city and when they have the stop on the way the next turn they become rebels and not only did you lose perfectly good troops, but your city doesnt have its reinforcements, so it can be taken by enemies and now you gotta fight the new rebels.
