Default Need help with retailers for pcs

    Hi there!

I'm currently working on two threads about technical help for people not too much knowledgeable in pcs :
    here:
    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=316586
    and here:
    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=316586

I want to ask you all what online retailers that you people use? Since I'm from Brazil not much help can I provide to people in Austria, or Poland, with the help of all of you we can answer those people faster and get them better prices, so please help us out here!

    Thank you all

For complete builds, I got mine from www.cyberpowerpc.com , located on the west coast of the United States. My current computer is from there, they are good with tech support and their warranty covered the part I broke.

p.s buying pre-built pc's costs you more but each to his own. was looking at that cyberpower website and their ocing service was $50 for a 20percent oc. You can do 50 percent overclock yourself for free nvm.

Well then if you know how to OC then don't get it. For those that are terrible at it, they offer it. I crashed my pc by doing a bad OC, and I vowed never to do it again.

if you're OCing the P55 chipset, forget it, it doesn't offer anything in terms of performance gain in terms of gaming, see the review of the HD 5770 in the tom's hardware

not sure about this. depends on the resolution, gpu used and speed obtained.

also not to be funny but i dont trust most of what appears on tom's.

p.s i have overclocked with several gpu's and cpu's and all showed a benefit (even a 9800gtx with a q9450). sometimes not so much somtimes as much as 30fps...depends on the game also..

The problem here is the architecture of the chip, not the ocing prrocess

you can use corei5 and core i7 with p55 and those chips all overclock to around 4ghz on air so depending which gpu you pair with it will result in diff fps gains. a core i7 920 at 4ghz will show less of a fps gain with a 5770 than it would with a 5870, most likely, as the more powerfull the gpu the more pronounced the bottleneck.

at least that's how i view it.

Yes but you see that the problem here is not the gpu (the 5770 is highly overclockable) itself, but how the commands are passed to the gpu by the pciexpress port built inside the chip, the thing here is that the P55 architecture is totally different from anything that you have out there, even the X58 chipset. although it has ditched the fsb there is still limitation to the amount of information passed by the lanes, albeit it doesn't use the entirety of the bandwidth available, it's more how it passes than the capability of the lanes. And yes albeit this chipset can sli/crossfire perfectly, although I have never seen the benefit of those things, as nintendo has taught us, graphics are good, but not essential, creativity is better in any case

I have seen quite a few people with p55 and say corei7 running at 4ghz on a x16 pci lane, no trouble. However you dont need 4ghz for a 5770 because it doesnt need as much cpu power as say a 5970. It's about the gpu power that will effect the cpu speed needed in order for there not to be a bottleneck. For a 5770 a corei7 need only be pushed to around 3.4-3.6ghz for max performance.

This has nothing to do with fsb or ram speed etc etc. In order to get 4ghz stable your fsb/qpi/blck etc and other ram speeds/voltages need to be set accordingly and passed several hours of test stressing e.g intelburntest/occt/linpack.
