Will there be any effects of battle inflicted on units such as these? I don't mean seeing your men's arms and legs get blown off, but if they were out of breath for example it would be cool to see them 'huffing and puffing' appearing physically exhausted (rather than just running in slow motion Ala Chariots of fire) or even limp if slightly battered in melee..

I agree. That would fit in well with units also becoming a bit bedraggled/dirty/blood spattered during the course of a battle or campaign. It'd certainly add to the visual enjoyment.

Gentlemen, gentlemen! Come to your senses!

Never forget the target market for this game. Teeny boppers obsessed with graphics who actually believe the reiviews they read in IGN aren't allowed to see such graphic depictions of war! CA is going to make sure not a single spotty lad is excluded from buying this game because some censor thought the hacked and mangled limbs and exploding entrails meant a PG 16+ restriction.

Expect to see no wounded, certainly no flying limbs...be thankful if the much vaunted horse dragging its dead rider about by his heel is still in the actual game (especially if it's been labled ACTUAL GAMEPLAY FOOTAGE)

So on all the anti-CA threads we all complain that the game is eye candy only, yet we +1 all the threads on making more eye candy?

That would be awesome but the only problem I'd see with it is how they'd get it to work with the gunpowder units in the Empire game engine. For instance, if one unit is dragging behind and you order your unit to line up and shoot the enemy, then they refuse to do so unless every soldier in the unit has lined up. This was one of the most annoying problems in Empire, and something they'd have to fix if they wanted to include it in Napoleon or any future game.

Sorry if this was already mentioned but they could use a similar system that they use with the horses of dragoons. There still technically apart of the Unit but do not effect its fighting or moving capability. If they did it right it could be a really cool feature.

    I agree entirely.

"Hurry, 500 enemy troops are shooting at us!"

    "Why aren't we firing?"

That`s what we were supposed to see.

Anyway, get Imperial Glory, it may be old now, but you`ll see actual moving dying soldiers on the battlefield among dead bodies; something CA in 2009 with all their advanced tech and know how failed to do.

I thought those few soldiers that always got stuck on fences were the wounded ones?

I would really like this option, it just might be too problematic. Hundreds of wounded just walking around? Sounds like CA would keep it out. And its graphically demanded also.

well, they've confirmed horses dragging about their dead riders, so why not this. If they were essentially no longer part of the battle (unless they got attacked), then it wouldn't affect their unit's firing.

Dude, they're not going to insert these things.
This amount of minute detail like dead cavalrymen dragged by their horses takes time and effort.
Those are two things that CA doesn't have.
    It's all about the cash-in's.
The aggressive marketing campaign can promise you anything ranging from the Death Star eradicating whole armies to Napoleon's heat-vision turning the tide to the French (exageratting intended for dramatic effect)

Plus if you take into account the insanely rate of bugs per game ( ex: Empire) all you've going to see is
thousands of identically dead cavalrymen being dragged around by identically animated horses.

It might be interesting for the first time you see it, but after a while it gets annoying...
Kinda like horses failing to jump fences in Empire...

But who knows? They said they're adding wounded men and amputees and men loosing their heads back in the day when Empire was coming up. They got us all excited with wonderful details back then, now they're just following the same marketing trend.
The cash-ins will be plenty, based on that overused formula.

No they're much more concerned about making soldiers coats move from the wind and their eyes reflect the sunlight than something like this.

I really, really, really find this hard to believe.

    1. They promised wounded on the battlefield- didn`t happen. But Imperial Glory did it.

    2. They made a big deal about killing riders who fall off and the horses running around, even their intro screen shows it. Something Mount and Blade managed, but CA did not.

Now they`re going to have the complex animation of men being dragged around by the horse when they couldn`t even do the simpler job of above?

I`ll believe it when I see it.
