It used to be €30 on steam here and now it's raised to €40 and €50 for the idiot edition. The only good thing I could mention so far about napoleon was that they actually priced it like an expansion and now they go around and change it![]()

Then don't buy it on steam?
Just wait a few months for a steam sale. They cut prices on games quite frequently for a time limited period.
The extra development time will allow us to finalize and polish Empire, making it the most accomplished and epic of the Total War series." said Kieran Brigden, Studio Communications Manager at The Creative Assembly. "There is a great deal of anticipation around Empire: Total War and we want to ensure that it is the benchmark for strategy games upon its release.![]()
well i hate that a game that was intended to be an expansion and then became stand-alone deserves 2 much money :@ although i am a great fan of Total war Series i won't buy it.

why are you planning on buying it on steam as a European? Steam rips Europeans off with their pricing, the price is $50 for N:TW Imperial Edtion (US dollars) if you pay from a place that it will allow you to pay in US dollars. But is also 50 euros if you pay in euros, which is odd, as last time i checked (which was around 2 months ago), the euro was about 1.45x more valuable than a US dollar, thus, you end up paying about $75ish US dollars for the game, while we pay 50.
wow we are really getting screwed over because of the euro, all games are cheaper in the us and steam doesn't even have the excuse of having to export them a longer way, it really sucks being an european gamerwell at least steam offers us some games which are difficult to get in europe
In Australia we pay American dollars and get the game really cheap do the great exchange rate. I think i got king Arthur for 43 dollars. Thats like two hours work if your on a bare basic wage here.
don't fergot alot of europeans also make more moneywow we are really getting screwed over because of the euro, all games are cheaper in the us and steam doesn't even have the excuse of having to export them a longer way, it really sucks being an european gamerwell at least steam offers us some games which are difficult to get in europe
though yes it still is a overridicoulous price, the website on which I ordered Empire has made the price 60(90 USD)! Way more than steam! though it's boxed and has more units... very atractive...
In Israel the game will cost 220 Shekels[50$]
for the regular edition
And again like a stupid i will buy it
at least i have fresh new computer that's run all on ULTRA![]()
How many dongs will it cost in Vietnam?![]()

Freedom is the distance between church and state.
Just as I thought. I was under the impression it was only going to be $20.
And, considering that NTW modifies ETW, it IS an expansion, albeit an expansion you can play without requiring ETW.
Pretty crappy either way if you ask me. Just confirms how crappy CA really is.

Don't buy on Steam, avoid it like theing plague, British stores sell for 18 pounds.
Even with packaging that comes to a max of 24 euro's on Play.co.uk, e-bay.co.uk or amazon.co.uk.
Again AVOIDING STEAM, by in Britain.
Oh, now. It's not realistic to expect a price under $50 for a game with this sort of production value. And if it was an expansion, it'd be using the same mecahnics, AI, etc - which it's not. (thank goodness.)
I think people who buy it would be wise to avoid a Steam purchase, much better deals from the retailers with CD,s, With steam unless you are in the usa, you get a crap exchange rate, and really nothing to show for it.

The high prices of games is one of things I don't get about Steam. For instance you can buy a four year old game from Steam for about £14.99*, but you could get a hard copy from Play or Amazon for about 2 to 4 quid, or buy it from a game shop or supermarket bargain bin for around the same price.
Why do they expect us to pay extra money for a digital copy when a hard copy (complete with documents and other extra items) will cost you less?
*One example of this is Europa Universalis 3 - it costs £3.99 (plus £1.85 shipping) from Amazon but it sells for £24.99 on Steam.
Hi Doe, Now I may not be 100% right, but I think Steam originally had to sell at full retail price and could not undercut the CD market on new releases. Then they probably found that people who could not be bothered to go to the mall or wait a few days for mail order for their games would pay top dollar anyway.
They sometimes have a fire sale of old titles for a limited period, to get things rolling again, and then if a good demand is generated, up the price again.
My thinking on purchase is support the CD market, even if you have to register with steam to play it. Of course steam has you over a barrel with some companys policy of only allowing steam for updates and for playing the original. When the day comes that CD,s are killed off, then the only hope will be steam gets competition in the digital market.

50 Euros?
And I've thought that 30 Euos was too much,CA is full of confidence, or they think we are suckers.
