What interface do you use? And why? I notice that everyone seems to use the minimal one, I stick to the full on everything on screen all the time. I just like to know that I have everything under control and everything there with easy quick access.

I use the full one, since the minimal does not have the thing where you push the faction symbol and shows friendly and enemy troops. And also because I'm used to the full one. Seems much easier to keep track of things with the full one too
It would fit with a poll to this thread though![]()
I also use the full one. I'm just used to it.
And I think it's only for screens that most people turn it off.
I have used minimal for as long as I can remember. I keep unit cards always shown and everything else on slide so I see them only when I want to. I just feel that full interface limits view too much and most of the buttons are not needed for most of the time so why keep them there?EDIT: And remember that real generals didn't have any of those sissy things called interfaces at all. If you are real man you just keep shouting and swearing at your computer until it does what you want.
But I'm not sure if this is right forum for this discussion.![]()

We have developed speed but we have shut ourselves in: machinery that gives abundance has left us in want. Our knowledge has made us cynical, our cleverness hard and unkind. We think too much and feel too little: More than machinery we need humanity; More than cleverness we need kindness and gentleness. Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost.

That was the cruncher for me. There's no key equivalent is there? I also had trouble showing the hidden/sliding sections without also moving the camera by the mouse being too close to the edge of screen - in the thick of battle the adrenalin doesn't allow me fine enough control.
I tried that and they just seem to ignore me more. Bloody peasants.
Same here.![]()

Minimal but i have configured necessary commands close for fast access in minimum time...like move forward fast(camera),rotate camera up/down,halt,run,group,withdraw,special ability...
Show-unit symbol was the only reason why i played with full-ui. Then i realized i can live easily without it and game looks much more cinematic with minimal UI ;P
minimal, same reasons as Haerski, important commands on hotkey like "run", "loose", "pause"()
cards shown (get confused without!), and map sometimes shown, sometimes slide, rest slide
sometimes general cam
getting used to minimal was hard once, but now there's no turning back.
just subjective preferrence, me think
edit: i play hardly ever multiplayer

If you want to be able to win battles - especially in Multiplayer (my prime territory) then you have to have everything under control. There is no time to watch the effects, its all about having that slight advantage over your oponent: whether it be 2 extra HP on your units, or having multiple ways to control and view units. That is why I use the full menu.

I use the minimal interface though I do go to options and switch to the full interface if I'm about to lose a battle and I don't want the prisoners escaping.
Standard.
