You might as well get this hard drive, Samsung Spinpoint F3. It's a single platter design which makes it very fast and should be relatively quiet and power efficient.

As for the rest of the PC, well if you can get that for £300 then go for it. It won't be great by any means and the PSU is one that's supplied with a case so if you plan to do replace the video card with something more powerful in the future you might have to upgrade that as well.

You could save 30 pounds by going with the MA770T-UD3P instead: http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/GIGAB...770T-UD3P-MOBO

For a budget oriented computer such as this one it would make more sense than the 790XT. Then upgrade the case + power supply with that 30 dollars. You also don't need that RAM, that is pretty heavy duty enthusiast RAM, you would do just as well with cheaper ram sticks.

    Total - inc. vat - 272.59

    My rig for around £330:

    CPU: E5200 2.5ghz
RAM: 4gb Kingston hyperx ram underclocked to 667 mhz because of:
ASUS P5SD2-VM motherboard.. Needs replacing, can't overclock.
    GPU: Asus 9800GT 1gb
HD: WD Caviar 1tb, was bought after.
No case, I used my old one with extra fans.
    Kept my old DVD drives.
PSU: Ezcool700W (I took a gamble here, it seems to have payed off.)

Wow the motherboard and RAM are really good. The CPU bothers me. It only has 1M Cache, that's not good, my ordinary Intel Core 2 Duo has 6M.

2mb of L2 cache is perfectly fine for the price bracket of the e5200.

Are you talking about the athlon 250 or the e5200?

AMD CPUs generally have really low cache which is what makes Intel better mostly
