RTR Platinum v1.9 CTD problem

Hi all.

My first post on the forums, so please be kind!

Long time player of RTW and have just returned to it after getting bored with the repetitiveness of ETW.
Played through an epic vanilla Brutii campaign, and was looking for a good mod to increase the game experience.

Settled on the awesome looking RTR mod, so I thought I'd give it a try.
unfortunately I've run into a problem though with some CTDs.

Quick summary:
Installed RTW
patched up to v1.5
Installed RTR Platinum Mod Switch version.
Installed CTD Fix V2.
No add-on mods installed.

No previous mods installed.

Started a new campaign as the Romans.

I besieged the first rebel city to the east of one of the three starting cities (apologies, I forget the name). Build a ram to take down the wooden walls, wait a turn then attack.

Get a CTD with an error message stating that a skin file is missing. Reloaded and retried and same message.

Apologies, I'm at work so can't give the message in full (which is probably helpful right?

)

Have I missed a hotfix or update along the way when installing?
I can try a re-install, but if it's something as simple as changing an entry in one of the txt files I'll happliy have a plow through and check them.

Any help appreciated.

have you got Barbarian Invasion installed? you'll need that for RTRPE ....

Hi Delvecchio

No, I don't have BI installed, I thought I didn't need it.

I downloaded RTR PE from here: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=105336 , and followed the instructions.

Gives the impression I don't need BI.

I was hoping to use the extended realism mod too, but it looks like that definitely needs BI, which I don't own

Well, from the link you gave it doesn't make it clear you need BI, but I was always convinced you do need it. RTR Gold i thought was the latest version to work on RTW alone, then RTRPE was made to port RTR to BI ...

Ah ok. I'll see if I can find a cheap copy of BI somewhere.

get the RTW Gold DVD, it should be really cheap these days, and you got everything on one disk.

Will mods work OK on a Steam version?

Not a clue. I saw a few posts flying around about people making it work on Steam but I assume you need to do a few extra steps ...

You have the mod switch version of RTRPE, right? The one posted by Maced0n. There is a small bug with the revolt fix for the mod switch version:

Correct that and you should be fine.

He does not need BI to play RTRPE. RTRPE will place two shortcuts on the desktop after it installs. One is for playing with RTW and one with BI. Obviously, if BI is not installed, the BI shortcut has no purpose, but the point is that it can be played with RTW alone. In fact, RTRPE was made for RTW and playing with BI is an extra and optional feature.

No. RTR 6 Gold was made for RTW v1.2. RTRPE is basically a port of RTR 6 Gold to the engine of RTW v1.5 that is the final version of RTW to be released. With a small edit to the target of the desktop shorcut(it comes by default when you install), there`s also the option to play it with the final version of BI, that is v1.6.

Please I have problem ....

I can´t update my RTW on 1.5 patch .... When I install 1.2 patch or higher 1.3 or 1.5 and I start game, game will crashed and shut down. I need help

please ....

And when I try install RTW and BI .... and patched on 1.6 it´s work but when I start game and I click on Imperial campaign, it wrote me "select an item from the list" .... and nothing ....

please help me

....

And sorry for my English. I am from Czech Republic :-)
