Unable to delete files from HDD
Hello all!
I am usually able to solve my computer woes on my own, but this little tidbit has me stumped.
I upgraded to windows 7 back when it was realesed, and just did an install of it over Vista. Now when I did this I ended up deleting most of my vista content, and just reloaded it up fresh in 7. (only important data for me is music, thanks to copytrans suite upload is a sinch.) So now Ive been using 7 for a while now and loving it, with one flaw. My C drive (the only one) in my computer reports having 200gb used up on it. I couldnt account for this large amount of data, and started to search to where it would be located. I deleted all my old vista files I could find, but this only knocked it donwn 30gbs or so. I used Tree Size File, and it said that only 80gbs could be found. So I need to figure out how to erase this phantom 100 or so gb left on my HDD. I'm assuming its content left over from vista that win7 cant access, so is the only way to do this with a fresh install of 7 and bring me back to square one? Disk defrage and other tools for cleaning it up (The ones provided with windows, not a 3rd party).
Ideas?

Re: Unable to delete files from HDD
Had the same problem. Here is how I did it
Start > All programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup > one of the choices on the list should be Windows.old in the box > cleanup system files(or something like that)
I had to do it twice for it to work.

Ah such a quick fix!
I stumbled upon that same utility before, but windows.old wasn't there, but I wen to a different tab and deleted all old versions of windows except my current restore point
If I could I'd give you plus rep!
