I've been scouring the threads of TWC and information regarding the whole special edition/collector’s edition I can't help but think "no thanks, there’s nothing really special about it" I’m looking at the specification right now and I’m thinking so bloody what I’m not going to spend ‘X’ amount more for some units that should be already implemented into the game.

Then I was thinking at a consumers logical approach to buying a game why doesn't CA give users that buy the imperial edition free lifetime add-on downloads this way it really does make the game unique compared to the ordinary game in box or even so users a discounted price.

I mean there really isn't a solid line between the normal and imperial edition only a few posters and invisible data of units. So why pay more?
What are your views on the matter and is there any evidence that other game developers have done like so in offering exclusive matter for the premium buyer?

In comparsion with the Special Forces, the Imperial Edition does have more on offer. With SF all you got was about 4 new units and a map. At least the Imperial edition of Napoleon gives you more. Personally I think it's worth waiting till all Imperial Edition units are available as a DLC about 8 months or so from now (I think it's bound to happen).

It all depends if you want some of the minor extra features like the journal etc. I don't think it's worth it.
Best wait for the Imperial DLC.

I think that would be a nice idea. But CA doesn't want to lose out on some extra cash. Plus if you are willing to fork out the extra money for the Imperial edition, the chances are you will be willing to spend a little extra on future DLC packs.

You have to admit, for a special edition the Imperial Edition is pretty light on offerings compared to what other game special editions offer. Like, for example, the Mass Effect 2 Collector's Edition.
Let me persuade you with my powerful logic skills.

In light of the Total War series, a quote from the theologian whom I respect the most:

The Heavenly City outshines Rome, beyond comparison. There, instead of victory, is truth; instead of high rank, holiness.

    • Napoleon: Total War - Standard Edition. Includes the “Elite Regiment” Special Unit Pack.

    • Napoleon: Total War - Imperial Edition. Includes Premium Packaging, A3 Poster “The Life and Battles of General Napoleon Bonaparte”, the “Elite Regiment” Special Unit Pack and the “Heroes of the Napoleonic Wars” Special Unit Pack.

    • Napoleon: Total War - Digital Download (Steam Only)

    • Napoleon: Total War - Imperial Edition (Steam Only), includes the “Heroes of the Napoleonic Wars” Special Unit Pack
It only gives 10 uniits + a poster compared too a standard edition. Also why do steam versions not have elite regiment pack?

Why does the title say ETW:Napoleon, when we all no NTW has nothing to do with ETW! Its a standalone....

Because although it's a standalone it's also a bolt on for ETW. Similar to company of heroes series all games were standalone but could be bolted on to each other.

Well observed but i purposely wrote ETW because of the reason explained above.

Lord Stason, I think its a tad different.

I own all the CoH (even ToV) and they're all essentially the same thing but with new units/armies (fair enough ToV had some new MP modes).

NTW on the other hand is built upon the ETW engine, yes, but its radically different and is set in a later time period. Also, the campaign modes and gameplay modes (aside from the GC) are completely different to ETW. So I believe you should just call it by its proper name. But I'm not going to go Nazi on you about it lol
