I would like to get the Imperial Edition, that I know. What I'm torn with is this... I want the Napoleon wallchart but I also want to have the Royal Scots Greys unit... why is this happening to me?

Loser. Name your light cav scots grey
.
You should wait until SEGA releases the exclusive units in a DLC pack.
Sure, I'll just wait 6 months and have to pay for the DLC? I'm not paying for any DLC damnit!
What will be on the wall chart anyway? What size is it? Does it have Napoleon's battle history? Will my wife let me put it up in the bedroom? These are the questions I need ansers to, gentlemen.

Save your money and get the regular version.
If the game can be modded on the scale of Rome (or hopefully better), you'll soon have all the extra nifty units you could ever desire, for free.
If the game can't be modded, you probably won't play it long enough to justify the extra cost, anyway.
Civ2 still sparks my interest... Civ4, not so much (for this same reason).
Prisca does have a point. Buy the hard copy of the Imperial Edition. Eventually the Scots Greys will be available (along with all the other 'Imperial Edition' units) as DLC pack for a cheap price a few months after release. The chances are, if you have the hard copy of The Imperial Edition (with all the maps, journals etc) you'll get all the other units -including the Scots Greys - for free. That's what happened for those that got the Special Forces Edition of Empire anyway. They brought Special Forces in shops (with their respective exclusive units - Dahomeys, Death's Heads etc) and then they got all those for free when the DLC pack was released for those who hadn't brought the Special Forces from the shops.
Thats what im hoping my self but there are no garuntees so im also not sure what to do.
Anyone got more info on the journal/wall chart things?
Note standard edition includes elite regiment but digital versions dont whats up with that?• Napoleon: Total War - Standard Edition. Includes the “Elite Regiment” Special Unit Pack.
• Napoleon: Total War - Imperial Edition. Includes Premium Packaging, A3 Poster “The Life and Battles of General Napoleon Bonaparte”, the “Elite Regiment” Special Unit Pack and the “Heroes of the Napoleonic Wars” Special Unit Pack.
• Napoleon: Total War - Digital Download (Steam Only)
• Napoleon: Total War - Imperial Edition (Steam Only), includes the “Heroes of the Napoleonic Wars” Special Unit Pack

Its simply not worth it Dude....Dident you learn from the mistake people made buying the SF copy of ETW? All the extra items SUCKEDDDDDD!!!why waste money on some old scrap paper and plastic toy made in china
So basicly for all of empires bugs, glitchs and fails...Your one of those who are willing to pay extra for them....Looser
JK
For anyone torn between the elite units and the Imperial edition should just go get the Imperial Edition.
CA/SEGA are doing the same thing as they did with Empire with about 5 unique units outsourced to retailers and 2 different Elite Units pack that you can only get at retail.
These will all be up for sale in 6 months for about 2,49 and will include ALL extra units.
So if you can't decide which edition to buy jsut go for standard and buy the extras later, or if you really want the not so impressive Imperial edition (there is an Incredibly cool Imperial Edition though it is not available for my country) you should get that and any unit you missed about 6 months later for free.
I am a sucker for the limited edition of anything sooooo...

Yeah, I would agree with the general consensus here and plump for the hard-copy, physical Imperial Edition and then wait a few months for them to release all the "pre-order exclusive units" as DLC like they did with Empire. This way you will get the maximum amount of units possible (although I believe there's no reason for these units not to be in the standard game).

burden I feel your pain! I love the Scots Greys and its disgusting that these units are deprived to people unless they buy from Steam itself.
Nevertheless, I shall just be patient and wait for them to come out as DLC, which they will do.

If somebody is selling the code for Scots Greys I will buy it.
ca knows all about your love of units. and they're exploiting it.
sickening move, ca. we're not units on a campaign map. we are consumers and we demand a little more respect.
Always trying harder to help you make an informed decision.
Get the box, man! And then wait for the DLCs (they're cheaper too)

I feel your pain man, I typically buy games over Steam these days because it's quite convenient, but they've made Steam purchases of NTW kind of unappealing, especially compared to the retail Imperial Edition which gives you two unit packs, as opposed to a single cavalry unit and one of the packs in the Steam Imperial Edition. Jerks. Obviously you could buy the packs later, but I'm lazy and want them now! All of them!
