    Default Guard mode?

I was never sure how to use units in guard mode in any mod, but lets talk specifically about how one should use guard mode order in KGCM...

So, how to use it, when and why?

I usually put spearmen in guard mode but I have no "scientific" reason to do it, it's just my gut feeling they would absorb the assault (which is what spearmen usually do) better in guard mode.

However, even when I use them to charge the enemy, I usually forget to put them out of the guard mode.

Other units I never put in guard mode.

What are the benefits and drawbacks of the guard mode when defending AND attacking for various unit types?

    Discuss.

I use it whenever I want any unit to hold their ground. Simple as that I think, really.

I usually like guard mode while defending. Using a strong defensive unit in guard mode to absorb the enemy charge, while your stronger, attacking infantry and cavalry wait and your archers wear the enemy down even further, almost ensures victory in most cases for me - particularly when the enemy is sallying after a long siege.

Yes, defending in siege battles for me too, order your units to stay at their positions. So that they do not persue the enemy outside the walls or down the ladders when there are still waves of enemy units to attack. Your infantry always stand a much better chance inside the walls.
