Icon4 CTD by skipping on minimap

    Dear mates

Having a problem. When skipping on the minimap from an edited campaign-map of the great mod imperium-parsa II developed by jounk33, used with Alx-TW, I always ctd.

    Details:
    • It works on imperium-parsa II
    • It only ctd, if I skip on minimap or move by cursor to HIMALAYA

    What I edited there is

    1. map_climate.tga
    2. map_ground_types.tga
    3. deleted some regions and added them to neighbour regions

    no error log
    deleted map.rwm is re-written

That region of the map is likely buggy somehow. Without the files I can't offer more help.

I found this problem: It occures, when I delete a faction in the near of Himalaya. But still need your help, Dear Caesar Vincens.

    1. Deleting faction name in desr_strat
    2. Deleting settlement and all files about them in descr_strat
    3. Deleting settlement in descr_regions
    4. Deleting on descr_regions_and_settlement_names_lookup (I know, this isn't necessary)
    5. Deleting province_name in descr_mercenaries
    6. Deleting province, town and havenport and merge it to neighbour province at map_regions
    7. Deleting on text/alexander_regions_and_settlement_names

the faction is called romans_scipii (dravida) their province dravida and their city kanchi
    RGB-value for map_regions: 20 100 40

If you remove a faction from descr_strat, you must remove that faction's references in many other files used for that campaign. So descr_regions, and descr_rebels are two big files that you need to check.
For now, I recommend leaving in the faction, but give them no regions in descr_strat and give them only a leader and put him in a far corner. This way, they will die immediately, but you will have to do less editing while you test.

    Dear Caesar Vicens,

Thank you for your advice Yes, descr_rebels, I never touched... Tell me, do you ever saw a tut "deleting a faction"? If yes, I please you to tell me, where I can find it... failing which, can I use "add a new faction" tut backwards?

Adding a new faction tutorials won't cover descr_rebels, all you need to do is look in the file and replace references to your removed faction with a different existing faction, preferably of the same culture.
Likewise, in descr_regions, make sure you have changed all references to that faction to a different faction.
You might try searching about descr_regions and descr_rebels. I'm sure others have had similar problems.

Yes, at descr_regions I already changed the RGB colour to another faction, the neighbour province indeed, which is owned by the rebels faction. You can watch the changements in my provided files on the top of this thread. My .zip files are sorted in two brackets: the previous and the modded one. I will searching on descr_rebels...

Just to be clear, by descr_regions, I mean the text file, not map_regions the .tga file.
In descr_region, you can't have two regions with the same RGB values.

Also, WinZip doesn't like your zip folder, it said that it had been compressed strangely and wouldn't let me open it.
Also, just to confirm, this problem doesn't occur with the unmodded files correct? And the only change was removing the region and the faction?

    Hehe^^ you ment descr_regions alright,

    1. Deleting faction name in desr_strat
    2. Deleting settlement and all files about them in descr_strat
    3. Deleting settlement in descr_regions
    4. Deleting on descr_regions_and_settlement_names_lookup (I know, this isn't necessary)
    5. Deleting province_name in descr_mercenaries
    6. Deleting province, town and havenport and merge it to neighbour province at map_regions
    7. Deleting on text/alexander_regions_and_settlement_names
Yes of course, I did all right there.
If I had something done wrong at descr_regions there would be a ktm, while loading the campaign.

I have no same rgb-values of regions on map_regions, this would cause a ctd. I simply deleted the region and added it to a neighbour region.

About the .zip problem: I use 7zip wich also supports winrar. With 7zip it will work, and it's freeware. You can donload it here:

    http://www.7-zip.org/

(To compress thiese files I used the LZMA compression mode)...

I just wanted to check those things. I know how easy it is to make a simple mistake and not realize it.

One thing I would do is go back to when it works, then make and test changes one at a time, so remove the faction, test, then remove the region, or the other way around if that works.

Yes, that was the way, I found out, that it is the deletion of a faction. I guess, the reason is, what you said on an upper posting: Forgot the edit at descr_rebels. But I still have not tested it.
Otherwhile I am thinking seriously about changing the mod into a Medieval II-mod.
But perhaps, I will have the faction-deleting problem again then. I know and I will do so, changing already existing factions into new one. But at my mod will be less factions than in other mods, and I do not wanna watch them loading through in game.
