That 'appears' to be the coastal Med2 climate that was created for RS2 from the old 'sub_arctic' climate. It is confined to areas along the African coast, far southern Spain, Palestine, and lower Anatolia. The reason for this climate is that in the old RTW you only had the Mediterranean climate, Sandy Desert, Rocky Desert, or Semi_Arid climates as viable choices to use in this area....none of which was actually suitable for it. The Med. climate had the wrong trees and grass. The desert climates had only Palms or nothing, and semi_arid was for more dry non-desert areas.

I made initial attempts to correct this to a more historically accurate look, and Tone took it much further. But the fact is that these areas were, in these times, less arid, much more fertile, and had a mixture of Palm trees and many others. IOW, it was 'greener' climate back then. Obviously, we STILL can't represent every area as we'd like, but I think this is more accurate than the choices we had before.

Tone can probably gice more input on this.

It's just that when I try and cover the ground with sand in the editor, for a more desert-ish appearance, for some bizarre reason the game CTDs.

EDIT: All fine now. I have played more of the RSII campaigns as different cultures. Bloody hell, it is much better looking than Empire now! How do you do it?

I retract my previous complaint entirely. Much as I dislike the combo, localise "plastic surgery" more than fix any issues in the battles. This could be the greatest mod of any game ever released!
