I had a card and psu picked out on newegg but the deal came off just now with my luck. I have a PCI express 16x1, I probably need a new psu

What's your budget?
You could have this Corsair 450watt PSU for $40 and a Radeon HD5770 for $164. That's perhaps a bit overkill for just medium settings so if you wanted to save a bit money the HD4770 should be enough for medium.
prob $400
I run ETW on highest settings with a NVIDIA 9500GT and an E8500.
And a 9500GT will cost you around $90

Well I'd say that all your parts need an upgrade 958MB of Ram is a very small amount. The Cpu also is not very good, if I were you I'd just sell the pc you have now and use that money to buy a new up-to-date pc: Like this!![]()
Patronized by the glorious all knowing Legio.
If I remember correctly, most high end graphic cards actually require you to have at least a GB of RAM. That's what it said in my 8800 GTS manual, so if he wants to upgrade, he will need another GB of RAM for a fact.
And I personally recommend the GTX 260 with the appropriate power supply. But even like Freddie's it might be overkill.
Wait ignore my posts are you sure my pc is going to be able to handle that
I'm buying more ram
A new graphics card isn't going to help much with the other specs of your pc.

Dude you need a better pc.
I have a pc with 3800+amd cpu, I have had it for quite a while. And max you can install on it, to not go cpu bottleneck or exhaust the psu, is a nvidia 9600, or 8600 which are fairly cheap, so you can save the money and buy a whole new pc with new case, new cpu and new card.
okay, is there any video card I can get that can run the sims2
do I need a psu, and what about elder scrolls oblivion

Your computer is crap so no point getting a good graphics card unless your gonna build a new one (your CPU and RAM would bottleneck a better card) A card like this is about the best you could do http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130509 it would run ETW on medium to high settings.

I dont think PCIe cards will work. If you look at the site that provides his computer specs, it said he has PCI slots, not PCIe.
But if you google his model, then go to the yahoo answers page where its him asking again, some guy links to another thread with the same question, which links to a CNet review where they say there is an unused PCI-E x16 slot!
RIP Calvin, you won't be forgotten.
