    Default Multi-player Campaign

In the past I have dreamed of the glories to be had in a multi-player campaign mode. Of course, RTW was never hard coded for that ability - a great tragedy. However, today I read that CA is making a multi-player campaign mode for Empire Total War. I'm not terribly interested in that game, but the possibility of this being incorporated into the existing RTW or perhaps a RTW2 is very exciting to me. This may be old news to some of you, but new to others, and I thought you might like to know.

Now we just need to get CA to build off of XGM for its next iteration of RTW (with a hefty royalty paid to DBH ofc).

That sounds very interesting. I'll definately be buying RomeII if it has that feature. Ok - I'll probably buy it no matter what...

I'll be interested to see how they work that out. Some of my turns take a minute. Some of my turns can take upwards of an hour if I have to fight multiple battles on the battle map. It seems to me like multiplayer campaigns would just turn into a ton of waiting unless it makes you auto-resolve everything.

Would be pretty cool if before the battle, (if you're allies or part of the same faction) you could split the army up between the players, assigning flanks or rear gaurd or cavalry to one player and infantry to the other...or if the other player is an ally and he has an army near, he can come to the rescue or quit the field and leave you to die...lot of cool possibilities.

Even the vanilla campaign might be too big for multiplayer, but if they add the capability then people will make smaller more manageable campaigns. A two faction campaign between Rome and Carthage, or a three faction campaign between Rome, Carthage, and the Greeks, would work.

I can certainly see some serious turn length issues as some of you have pointed out. But, that could be negated to some degree if you played a campaign with a close friend. Or how about this: say I am playing as Rome and my friend is playing as Scythia. If we fight each other we would obviously control our own armies. But lets say I am fighting Carthage - instead of having my friend sit on the sidelines for up to an hour, he/she could take control of the AI army to make the battle much more interesting for both of us. Conversely, when my friend fights the Black Sea area Indi-Greeks, I get to control their armies. Etc Etc. The AI would control Carthage/Indi-Greeks/etc. for the turn based portion of the game and for battles against other AI factions. Does that sound good to you all?

I really think they won't make it work so that you can play multilayer campaigns in RTW. They just won't do that.

If it worked it would be epic.
