    Default Wireless Network Layout: Help!!!!!!

I've currently got one computer in my house hooked up to the Internet. However, I want to connect my other desktop, which resides on a different floor about twenty feet away, to the Internet. Is there a good way to do this wirelessly--I really don't want to run wires. If so, what is the minimum equipment I need to buy? Thanks ahead.

The idea is BOTH of your computers connect to the router. In your situation take out your old modem/router and connect your new one to the phone line and plug in the patch lead to your current 'Internet-equipped comp' and setup the router via a web browser. Once you have internet working on your new router you can go about setting up the wireless on your other computer which should be straight forward the only thing you might need is a WEP key (this stops your neighbours from stealing your internet connection) which you get from the new router.

Does your current modem connect to your internet PC by USB or Ethernet?

You need a modem with wireless capability. Next you need a good wireless card installed on in the other pc. Usually a $50 (AUD) one is half useless so you'd probably need to spend a lot on a wireless card. If it's a laptop a lot of laptops come with good wireless recievers in them, saving you the cost.

Ethernet, but I was thinking of changing to USB in the near future. Any advice.
As for a wireless card--do I need both that and the device here? Thanks, guys.

That device replaces a wireless network card. It's an external USB connector which does the same job as a wireless card except it's using a USB slot on the outside of the computer rather than a PCI slot on the inside of the computer. If you have a modem with wireless capability then you just need to get a wireless card or wireless USB connector like that one and it should work. A USB connector is more simple to use but takes up a USB slot. Depends what you need.

Ok so once get the router (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-190-_-Product) its guna come with an ethernet cable. Unplug the the one from your modem from your pc. take the new ethernet cable and plug it in the the pc an the other end into the router. take the thernet wire pluged into your modem and plug it into your router into the port labeled UPLINK. Go to your other pc and plug in the wireless network adapter into the pc. How to connect it and stuff is a different story..
