    Default age

with the post i've made here, which i will update every term, what does everyone think of the idea of once you reach 50 or 60 having a roll to see if you die of old age

It would be a fairly simple dice roll, say 6/20, that way you are unlikely to die straight away, but getting to 100 (which was unheard of in Roman times) is rather unlikely

oh and if anyones wondering, i've added a couple of years for the terms we've done, and uped the ages of those who were to young

I think it's a good idea, I update my age each two weeks and put it in my signature, I'm four years older than you put me down for mate.

I have 3 more years. As for the rolls, I'm not too sure...we had always really made it that people just died when they felt it was time to go. I don't think Barba will last much longer, and I guess after 60 it could work, but as of now I'd honestly prefer to have the freedom to choose when he is going to the graveyard .

But if you guys want it...I don't mind.

then i guess i've short aged everyone

well if you can all post here what your age is...

anyways the thread isn't really just for the dying, more keeping track, this was just an idea, but lets wait and see for more people to comment before deciding

I know I'm not active here anymore, but I think my input here would be useful...

It seems to be that the lifespan in Rome was closer to 70 than 60, as opposed to the medieval age. At GSTK we start the rolls at 50, but obviously the average lifespan was shorter during that time.

    70 or 60 sounds right.

I hate it when historians say that life was crap back then because the average age was 30. They shouldn't count exposure tbh.

To tell the truth, I don't think there will be too many situations when someone reaches an age like 70. I myself intend to kill or at least withdraw my character far before that.

Given the current political climate, 40 seems like a prospective opportunity .

right, since this has had exceptionally low interest, i'll keep the age thread up-to-date, but we won't be having any rolls

Senators and people of high class should be able to live to at least 60. Bear in mind that lifespan projections are heavily influenced by death in childbirth, wars, famines, food shortages, all that fun stuff.
