Default How long does the campaign take?

Installed the mod for the first time and I'm a bit worried about the size of the map. While it looks quite good, it also makes the impression that the campaign takes forever. Since I have to work, my time is limited and I don't have weeks to spend for a single ME2 game. Is there an estimated time for the campaign?

i haven't played through a campaign yet(i also work), but i think it's going pretty fast, depending of what faction you choose..Gondor takes forever though, with the endless stack's of mordor orc's coming to osgilliath hehe..but i don't know what the estimated time is, probably someone else who have a better answer

    Depend on many things.

The chosen faction. Mordor for example is usually one of the fastest factions, due to an good economy and cost effective units.

Then your playing style. Some guys like to rush, others play more defensively.

Your Skill is also important. If you lose many troops during the battles you won`t be able to end the game fast.

And then there`s luck- If your allies play good, it will be faster.

With Mordor and the right tactics you can probably win in 100-150 turns. When playing the Elves you WILL have to play longer because of the low recruitment pools.

I would contradict Cartman with Gondor taking forever - you have to cope with Mordor with the most factions anyway and it will get only worse the later you start with it.

I did it with Gondor in 127 turns,
    OotMM in 131 turns,
    High Elves in 158 turns.

These were the only three I finished. I think I'm normally pretty fast due to my aggressive playing style. That doesn't say that much about the "real time" it takes.

Hmm, 100 - 150 turns sound okay. I've chosen HE for my first game. So it might take a bit longer. However, it's a while since I played the last time a ME game, therefore I'm probably a bit slower anyway.

I wonder if I should try the RC / RR submod since it seems to be quite popular, however I'm not exactly sure what to expect from the mod. It seems to increase the visuals, AI and add new units which sounds good. The 'more realistic' can reach from deeper and more interesting to rediculous annoying gameplay. I like deeper and more options, but not annoying gameplay.
Does RC/RR make the game more difficult and/or balanced? I heard vanilla TA seems to be quite easy (for experienced players) so very hard is adviced as difficulty level...

VH/VH is not recommended because it was too easy otherwise but because everything was balanced out by the team for this difficulty level (many people even claim it was harder in other difficulty levels). I wouldn't say it is too easy in general. If I look through the forums I see many people who think it's too hard... It's really hard to determine what's the perfect difficulty it's very much a question of opinion.

Concerning RR/RC I can't really tell. I recently installed it for the first time but didn't play very much so far.

I think VH is definitely hardest on campaign map. When it comes to battle, "N" is hardest if you have the top general and "VH" is hardest if you don't have the top general...

Could you clarify what exactly that means?

Eriador is tons of fun to play. Just hide out and send armies in to help out your allies.

Well, the part about the CAI is just common sense. Hopefully the hardest difficulty setting is hardest.

And as far as the BAI goes, I can't possibly imagine how N is ever harder than VH regardless of any variables.

in addition you can play short campaign which is pretty "short"?

or you can modify the number of regions you need to take if you want to win. (its just changing a number in imperial_campaign or sumthing like that, i dont remember)
I did this in vanilla game bcs long was too much for me and short too short .

Personally, I like to use just about all of my turns up in a campain just to see how much land I can hold before the end. I'll usually take all but one of the required cities and just start spreading out. Once the turns start winding down I'll send a massive army or two and camp it outside the city. Then when there are 5 turns left I'll start attacking the city, and on the last turn I'll take it. But that's just me .

Why not just fulfill the victory conditions and continue playing anyway?

This way it seems like I managed to snatch victory at the last second. That and I didn't know you could continue the campain once you've meet the victory conditions>.>....

I never complete my campaigns, cause I grow overpowered to soon. Yes, I play VH/VH, don't cheat and don't exploit.

There are many things one can say about common sense. Fortunately one of them is closed.
