Playing an Empire Realism grand campaign as Britain at the moment.. it's 1720
- Portugal has captured Spain, then lost it to the French. And although both are still in a state of war, there seems to be no fighting whatsoever going on
- Austria is allied with the Ottoman Empire.. seems the siege of Vienna in the 17th Century is forgotten at last
- Spain has traded me (Britain) Gibraltar for Algier and some techs, which, after they lost the spanish main and Morokko, now serves as their capital
- France is not only allied to Britain (me) but also the relation is a very friendly one
Things really got interesting in my DM8.0 campaign.
The Iroquois hold their capital in America, Alices-Lorrane in France and Goa in India.
As a result Westphalia and Portugal have land around the Great lakes now.

Not really sure if it's ahistorical, but in my current campaign (i'm playing as Britain), in the Americas, France's forces are pretty standard, 1 artillery unit and 4 - 5 units of line infantry. But in Europe, where I have just invaded, France has huge stacks with only 1 or 2 line infantry, maybe 1 cavalry, and the rest artillery. It's actually easier that way, I just use about 4 units of heavy cavalry, and charge their line of cannons from the side, and just roll along taking out each one. Then finish off their infantry with a few of my own infantry.
Yeah, theres some pretty weird stuff the AI will do from time to time. In my Prussian campaign I just completed (1799) before I signed on here. Spain had Naples and used nothing but 2 full stacks of "Provincial Cav". Was a sad, sad massacre. I felt like I was a participant in the actual "Charge of the Light Brigade" as they kept flowing over a hilly map terrain we battled on.
The Maharatas were ready to invade the Americas, but I made sure their fleet (and the pretty big army being transported) was sunk somewhere off the coast of Cuba. And I saw Venice and Austria invade North Africa, taking the Barbary States out, but Venice got kicked out of Tunis.
Done: Conquering the world as the Netherlands.
Seen: Maratha's and also Wurtemburg trading a province with the Iroquois.
I invaded America with the Ottomans, then took Great Britain, Sweden, and am working my way through Russia. In the end, my army will have went in a huge circle.![]()
well playing as the thirteen colonies was most interesting for me, first off the french and Indian war happened alot sooner. (if i didn't start it France would around 1710, also for those 10 years it was apparent France was building a huge army for this and they conquered my Iroquois allies in two turns, so I restarted the campaign because I was screwed and then I built up a army and started the war in 1702 and kicked Frances ass and pushed them and their subject colonies off the American map.) Also when my king died Sweden for some reason contested the crown. oh and Spain also decided to start a war with me and they captured Montreal. So i in response built up a grand navy and invaded Italy and took Naples from them. While my Britsh allies had already captured morroco and the first city in between that and Madrid. So while im conquering Spainish colonies in Europe and America, Britain is helping me by keeping them busy making them defend their mainland.
