    Default Faction heirs

there should be an option to change it really.. Elrond died and his heir was a stupid family member at 59 who fails at being a general and a leader. Having loads of unintresting traits. And even tried to kill him off but the idiot just wont die!

Anyway does anyone else have this problem? both the twins are like 10 star commands with 3 gold chevlons and really good traits and stuff. But Why in Arda did he choose the other guy? /Facepalm

It worries me too, but I find that stakes is the answer to such a problem

Actually one of the twins is faction heir from the start so he should be king too.
And sadly it's not possible in Med II to choose your faction heir.
I think Elven Archers got stakes. Not sure though...

Well you can always make (temporary) changes to EDU if you really need to get rid of him. But there are other ways to (like: ENEMY stakes, or just ENEMY spearmen)

    hey guys!

I am quite the new guy around here,
i love the tta tw very much and off course all of the patches, because it is one of the only mods that actually works and works perfect

but still some things are still bothering me (and you guys too i guess):
    - why you still cannot choose your own faction heir
    - why the game crashes in skirmish mode when you want to play at a settlement
    - why i still don't hell know how and where the balrog can be recruited and come into play?
    - why at gondor faramir & especially the mighty boromir aren't even 0 years old boys at the family tree, you really miss them in the story line!
    - why minas tirith / morgul / bharad dur / and especially osgiliath and moria (etcetera) arent the actual places but just forts and citadels
    - why gondor not possesses cair andros and west osgiliath at the start and has does stupid militia units as basics in stead of their actual start units which are the gondor soldiers

Perhaps you could answer those for me as well as the following questions:
    - how the hell you can defeat the dark lord of mordor in campaign mode?
    - if there are any upcoming patches for the mod?

i really hope one of you can answer this question for me!
because then i can continue playing with lesser questionsssss.....
    thanks

Why did you post the same thing in 2 threads?
Let's answer your questions anyway, just to be nice, and i'm bored:
    1) Can't choose cause they used M2TW as the base for this game and can't choose in that (it sucks)
    2) Haven't experienced that crash... anyone else?
    3) They're working on a Balrog but there are a lot of issues, look at the Balrog thread.
    4) If you're playing as Gondor (v1.3 RR/RC) Then Boromir will emerge in about turn 60 or so outside Minas Tirith, he can't be in the family tree cause then they wouldn't be able to pick his traits etc and he might not be born or something like that. Anyway just wait, it works out later. I think Faramir has a similar script. They come in like the emerging generals in the crusades campaign (but without an army).
    5) It's very difficult to make custom battle maps for these settlements, look around the forums they're talking about it somewhere. Massive amount of work.
    6) If everyone just had all their territories then it wouldn't work, if you've played total war before you'll know why, it gives you time to figure out your units and build your economy up before the big fights. About militia it's pretty similar answer, you have to build up from somewhere and you need garrison filler later as well. Also expands the troop roster and gives you more choice.
    7) You can't defeat the dark lord, he's basically the pope for evil factions, just play the game and don't worry about it.
    8) As 1.3 was fairly recent I'd say it'll be a while before the next one.

    General pointers on the forum:
Don't complain much about the game unless you're gonna provide solutions which are workable for the modders. It's a free mod and they are doing this out of kindness. If you ignore this you'll probably be blasted by more outspoken veterans. You've been warned haha

If you need any specific help, don't hesitate to ask, but search through the forum for recent threads on that topic cause most things have been discussed, then add your questions to those threads. If it isn't on any threat within the last month or so then make a new topic. Alternately you can PM (private message) someone who seems like they'd know about that topic from what they've said on the forums. From everything I've read on the forums I would say Muffer is the nicest guy around.

Never mess with Jean-A-Luc, just don't. The Captain is fearsome.

If you need anything just PM me (click on my name, that'll take you to my page, there should be a link there somewhere that says private/personal message or something like that).

Good luck and enjoy the forums,

    Ed

There's nothing wrong with the veterans (I might call myself one too: I've been around here about half a year before the release but only recently posted here again), Muffer just is a bit a bad example.

Go to \third_age\data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign and open up descr_strat.txt. Then search for your character and change his age. But beware: if he has children there must be a certain difference between those and you can't make him younger than 16.

Actually, you could even make him younger than 16, just change the age of manhood in decr_campaign_db. There are certain limits, though.

Yeah, and in some mods you can actually choose next heir with ancillary which gives something like +10 to authority.
