    Default New Star Wars Films

Since the Revenge of the Sith came out in 2005 the Star Wars Universe has continued to grow, comics, books, video games, and a tv series. at this past E3 when i saw the announcement trailer for The Old Republic the first thought that came to mind was : wow this game looks awesome, then an even more interesting thought came to mind: why the hell can't this be the new movie? seriously, why does star wars have to be restricted to video games and kid shows, im not saying that those aren't good either, but I think that a story as massive as star wars can continue to produce a lot more good films than just six. what do you think TWC?

The only other options i can see is

    A) the Early years of Star Wars, Jedi-Sith War, which then means a completely new cast as well.

    or

    B) The lovely Yuuzhan Vongs, we know what happens when they arrive in the SW universe....lots of pew pew..and boom, promising and alot of action as well, plus i guess you can slap up some of the original cast from SW though they'll all be old and whatnot.

I rather not expand more into the clone wars, its been done to death.

There can be new Star Wars films, but they'll be more on the line of cartoons like the clone war series on Cartoon network, or the one shown on theaters

If they're going to do sequels to the original three, then I think they should adapt Timothy Zahn's Thrawn Trilogy novels. They've got excellent stories, great characterisations, plenty of action; excellent source material for Star Wars films to regain some of their past glory (I'm looking at you prequel trilogy)...

I like this idea. Those were good books.

I'd like if they did a film adaptation of the Thrawn trilogy and the Dark Empire series.
But it's never going to happen. Lucas only tacitly acknowledges the Expanded Universe; and he has stated numerous times that he's not gonna make any new Star Wars live action theatrical features. He's concentrating on the upcoming live-action television series.

What i want to see is an Xwing/roguesquadran based tv series that is similar to battlestar galactica but without the prophecy and religion BS. more action scenes as well to articulate the fleet movements involved in a space based insurgency.
im thinking for a timeline, directly after the second death star dies so they only have to apply a minimum amount of previous movie references like leia , han and luke (though they could be applied in a similar fashion as arnie in terminator 4, CGI and whatnot to preserve their previous youthfull looks, especially leias.
not that i wouldnt hit that as it is today. i totally would.

I like space wolf's idea for a film about the Yuuzhan Vong. That was a great story arch. I think the early Jedi-Sith Wars would be great too, because what we really want to see is more lightsaber battles.

I don't know about Rapax but I'd rather see some charactor development and a decent script. A single well-choreographed duel was more interesting than the big battle scenes IMO.

No, that sounds stupid to be honest. A visual nightmare come true. I'll have what Markas is having.

Its like watching the Clone wars on cartoon network. You have thousands of years of technology to expand, laser rifles and whatnot, yet your deciding the fate of the universe by having a gigantic jousting duel with thousands of clones and droids on speeders with jousting spears.

Having thousands of jedis and sith dueling sounds cool on paper, but in play its just kind of funny, why all that dueling when every single of one of the combatants would use there force skills?

Duels between 5-20 i can see that being cool, but once you pass the 50 mark or 1000 mark, fighting in open field where a bomber can just strafe the area...yea common sense..

Yuuzhan vong are basically another race from another galaxy who has this deep hatred for machines (in there home galaxy the machine completely fraked them over like theres no tommorow) fast forward a couple thousand years or so they invade the SW galaxy because they just HAVE that urge to cleanse the entire of universe of technology one galaxy at a time. The Yuuzhan Vong use entirely organic technology.

Essentially if a movie is done, it would probably be more depressing then Revenge of the Sith (story line wise) as pretty much everyone in the SW galaxy is going to get gang banged. To put it in a humorous image, picture the Timurids invading the whole map basically in MTW2 with all there armies everywhere, its kind of like that for the New Republic and pretty much everyone else in the galaxy they can barely stop them. Alot of people die....goes past the trillions mark if i'm not mistaken. And the vong are vicious buggers.

Lucas has no real desire to do more movies. He's pretty indifferent about how many books, games or tv shows get made as long as they fit his canon, but he's pretty clear that the movies are about the rise, fall, and redemption of Anakin Skywalker. Which the movies portray well enough even if a bunch of the prequel dialogue makes you want to puke.
