    Default Character Epithets

    hi


    is there anyway to costumize the epithets, and how the character gets it?

    for example, i want a character named John the Bandit Killer (example)


    do the epithets have to be surnames (i dont think, since mongol general have epithets without it on their names)


    and how can i costumize how the character gets it (like a trigger)?

    Juist make sure you have the bolded entries


    in export_descr_character_traits

    so it's via the traits


    thanks, my doubt was becouse i saw the Conquerer as a surname for england (and king william the conquerer used the surname, not a trait)

    • An epithet always is part of a trait and acquired with that trait.
    • The epithet overwrites the second name, if the character has one
    • Each new epithet overwrites any former epithet

    If you want epithets to not always be acquried with their parent trait you need to tie them to a second (best hidden) trait.

    Example
    You have the title (trait) of "King of England" and of "Count of Anjou" in your game and you want those titles to become epithets you would make the epithets part of the respective trait (see above).

    When a character becomes King of England, he will use that title as his epithet; but if he became Count of Anjou afterwards the count's title will overwrite the king's title. To avoid that you could use a second trait that has no other effect than providing the epithet "Count of Anjou" and is acquired when holding the respective title but not holding the title King of England.

    To make epithets, or second names, that no other characters should be able to acquire and that should be given to a starting character (example, Robert Curthose) you could make a hidden trait with that epithet, but without triggers, and give it to the respective character.
