This is a shame. Rather than jail him, they should put him in some secured place, and use him to continue designing weaponry. The guy obviously has the Vorstellung for it.

We could ask him to spend time clearing IEDs in Afghanistan by hand, he might fully appreciate the enormity of what he was planning to do.
